Dear friends,
I have finished phase one of my new Sci-Fi project. The project will follow the lines of a 'World War Z' type-scenerio.....only in addition to fighting Zombies, Scavengers will be fighting Govt. troops and the occasional beastie or two. Maybe I'll give the Scavengers some mobile steam artillery? Anyways.....all the figures are from Copplestone's 'Future Wars' range, with the exception of one figure from EM4, which I do belive Mr. Copplestone sculpted. The personal carriers are from Alpha Forge mini's. Stay posted for the Zombies (lots of them on big bases), coming up in a few weeks. Enjoy and be inspired!!!!

As well, here are a few pics of some of the buildings I will be using. The multi color frame building is made by JR Miniatures. The brown wooden structures are all O scale train buildings. I belive they're produced by Bachmann, under the tilte 'Hobo Jungle.'

Very impressive terrain, figures and vehicles. I love those little half-tracks. I also like how you've used the hair and headgear to add some colour to the earthy tones of their clothing.
Those railway buildings are terrific, but I would imagine they are quite expensive.
Please feel free to post more pics :D

Great stuff :o
You could add em4's scavengers and savages to your group, as they are Copplestones earlier works and should fit in quite well, as well as a truck or two from Ramshackle (Only seen a few close ups of thier trucks so not sure how well they would fit in)
Keep up the great work ;)
-
Very impressive work! I have the em4 savages TheMightyFlip mentioned and they do fit in just fine with the newer Copplestone figs. I just finished painting the em4 bikers, which would also be a pretty good choice for this setting, given that they're scruffy and heavily armed. One of the bikers has a FLAMETHROWER for goodness sake. One wonders where he happened to pick that little item up...

:-* :-* :-*
...and you say there will be pics of zombies too?
<3

Looks very nice!
It's also good to see the hobo jungle buildings in more detail. they were already on the to buy list for ages, but now will be bought even sooner.

Cool 8)

Excellent the vehicles look just right superb work...

Excellent stuff...

This set of three buildings is only £12.30 from www.darkhousegames.co.uk along with many other 1950's style buildings perfect for Post Apocalyptic games
-
Outstanding work there!!
Look forward to more :)

Nice work

-
Zombies are part two of the project. Haven't started them yet. Check back in about a month or two......
-
What a great looking set up. The pictures are fantastic. This shouldhave been submitted into the LPL for judging. You would have gotten my vote!! Thanks for sharing.
-
nice... your flesh is a little contrast heavy though, especially on the topless guy...
-
excellent stuff ;D
can't wait for the zeds.
-
Really nice idea there, my only niggle is that you missed the mould lines on your resin vehicles....
FOR SHAME!!! ;)
Looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Friends,
Here is part two of my Future wars project, 'Zombies.' Since my experience with zombie movies is limited I thought I would draw on the old black and white classics I grew up with; modelling my figures after that. Assuming Max Brooks is right ;), after a few days of reanimation zombies quit bleeding and instead ooze black goo :P, so my choice of color and technique is somewhat appropriate :?, simply-put, white primer, and then smoothered in Minwax gunk. There are 7 stands of six figures, and 1 huge stand of eighteen. Hope you enjoy..... ;)

Strangely effective.

Strangely effective.
Yup have to agree the film noir suits those placcy zeds perfectly.
-
That's a really good effect. I like it. Making the zeds a monochrome colour. It really draws the eye to the struggling scavengers. Well played.
-
As the others said it’s quite a simple scheme but a really effective one :-* 8) :-*
-
Effect works a treat
-
A great set of miniatures. The scavengers look great.Nice work on the zombies too.
-
I like that black and white effect. 8)
-
I love that contrast. Very cool.
-
I really like that technique for doing a zombie horde and the way they look.
-
Is it me or has someone removed their reply from this thread? ???
Edit:Ignore that, lol. Just realised I mixed up 2 threads. lol More tea vicar? Lovely gravy.
-
Strangely effective, indeed :)
I'd love to see a couple more pics of the survivors among the horde. Or even a game in progress?
-
I like the scavvy's and the zeds do work very well,
brilliant :D
-
They are fallout zombies remind me of Threads and the US the day after
-
Wow o_o balck & white zombies really work!
-
Cool effect. Would be even better if they were for weird war and the army were made up of German SS. (I hope I can say that here.) But then, of course, we'd all be rooting for the zombies.
-
Great stuff,
Brian
-
I really like teh black and white zombies. I may have to try that.
-
...German SS. (I hope I can say that here.) But then, of course, we'd all be rooting for the zombies.
Don't see a problem with mentioning them, just so long as the runes and all associated icons don't crop up. Looking for some zombie on Nazi action? lol >:D ;)
-
Nicely done!
:)
-
I like the b/w zombies.
Does it make it hard to maneuver them in certain places with so many zombies on a base?
I've been basing mine singlely (is that a word?) but it really looks like Carrot Top is getting totally mobbed.

The scav army looks cool too.
-
Carrot Top had it coming anyway, drawing such attention like that. Git 'im!
-
Yep... I think he's better off as Zed fodder. lol
-
Forgive me for my ignorance but I am not sure how the look was achieved.
What is "minwax" and casn it be doing in any colour?
it looks different to the standard "wash over white" look
Cheers
-
it looks different to the standard "wash over white" look
Forgive me if I'm wrong for those with more experience in the matter. The difference is because dips and washes are essentially just thin liquids. Minwax, I presume is like shoe polish or a similar material. But I could be wrong.
-
Minwax polyshades is a product combining wood stain with finish (most likely satin in this case). It is commonly referred to as the dip in wargaming circles. I suspect the color Tudor was used in this case.
I'm going to have to try this technique on some of my 15mm zombie horde. It looks great and I suspect will be a really fast way to get to the table for some gaming.
