Title: Zombie Terror
Post by: ardbeg on 27 June 2009, 05:29:07 PM
We had a quick game this morning

a few bikers helped by a group of survivor were raiding a rural town when the shambling zombies came in (as usual)

after a bloody battle and several waves of undead pushed back (god bless fragmentation grenades  ;) )
our poor humans were slowly butchered and the lucky remaining one scattered seeking safety outside the board

Good looking game. I spot, among others, Hasslefree, Grenadier/EM4 and Studio Miniatures figures. What's your feeling for how they scale up against each other?

they are all fine minis. EM4 are chunkier but after all that's how bikers are supposed to look ;-)
Hasselfree and studio are thinner, more realistic anatomically speakin IMO
but they still mix good with each other

maybe this will be more helpfull :

Thanks for that. Studio & Hasslefree, in particular, seem to scale up very well against each other. That's a stroke of luck as Studio doesn't currently have many survivors and Hasslefree have limited zeds.

Hi that looks like a great game! What system where you using? How long did it take to play?

thx for your comments

we used a variant of LOTOW (give credit to Nervisfr for these rules): fast easy and fun
it took about 1h30 before we get overwhelmed by zombies (we played cooperatively, otherwise i think it will be finished in 30 min ;-)
we were 2 but the game is really better with more players

LOTOW - Legends of the Old West, You'd never guess it from the name, but its some rules for Old West gun fights. It's produced by Warhammer Historical.

I've never played it myself, so how does the sci-fi/zombie mod work?

as said Dijit, it is a ruleset frow warhammer. you have lord of the ring, legend of the old west, legend of the high seas. rules are fairly simple and are easily adaptable for others periods.
we keep the core of the rules, add modern weapons and a section about zombies (in our games zombies are automatically moved by the rules : attack whatever they can see/hear/smell, eat bodies etc.. and also a system to generate zombie based on who won the iniative)
these rules are still playtested so it evolve at each game

i've played all things zombie and liked it too

Excellent stuff!! 8)

Thanks for the size comparison.
I've been thinking of buying those Studio Miniatures Zombies. Looking at their site i didn't realise they had so many. Guess I'll be adding some more to my horde!

If your going to get the studio miniatures zombies Papa then I also recommend Matt Lord's 5 zombies from Hasslefree.  They are the closest miniatures in style to the studio zombies.  They really compliment each other well.
