Title: Looking for a Milky or Pearlesent Color to do Zombie eyes
Post by: Darkoath on June 28, 2009, 09:22:47 PM
I am looking for a color to give my zombie eyes that dead milky color.  I plan to paint the pupil a dark gray
they cover the whole eye with a milky or pearlesent wash to give it that "dead fish" look.

Anyone have suggestions for a paint to use?  I can do a wash or it can be a pearlesent color that allows
paint to show through, similar to the TCR that is used for blood on zombies.

Thank you!

I've used this technique before and just used acrylics for the "white" wash. I always avoid using pure white for eyes on any figure, and with zombies I definately use an off-white.

The paint shouldn't be a typical wash consistency because it will run into the creases of the eye lids and leave a pale line there. All the paint needs to be is a slightly thinned off-white which will not fully cover the pupil and iris you already painted, giving a nice milky eye :) hope some of this rambling helped!

Winsor & Newton and Daler Rowney do pearlescents in tubes and ready mixed inks which might work?

I use Rotting Flesh and Skull White from GW mixed together with a very thin wash of brown. It reminded me of those cow eye balls I had dissected in high school, so it worked.
