Title: A dino safari
Post by: walktapus on 13 March 2007, 11:49:53 AM
A few pictures and a report from our last dino safari game. We used the Saurian Safari rules, and a game master  :)

A previous hunting expedition has been anihilated. Only one survivor has returned to tell where the dino ivory has been hidden (in a giant skull cave).

A new expedition is sent. As it progresses and meets more and more dinosaurs, discussions arise about wether the pacific plant eaters should be shot (for sport) or the expedition should focus on bringing the ivory.

One player makes the mistake to shoot at a giant brachiosaurus (150 hit points !). The beast is upset and charges the column, smashing down two carriers.

Then there is an episode with a pack of deinonychuses hunting down and eating pachycephalosauruses just in front of the skull cave. The hunters finally shoot the monsters and get the ivory.

The return trip is more momentous (since I rolled two times every turn in the encounter table instead of one), but the hunters all escape alive, which is quite unusual. Only a few carriers were killed.

The scenery is probably a little low for this forum's standard, but these items from my friend Sacha can be inspiring.

(I purchased a mammoth skeleton for myself. A bit oversized but I hope I will make something useful from it).

The giant skull came from the newspaper shop for one euro. It is the first issue of weekly priodical to make a t-rex model.

With a base, earth and a few plants it will make a great fossilized dragon skull imho  :)

Great report! Neat scenery, even the super-huge Triceratops. I can't wait to see the dino skull done up as a cave.

If you find any extras, send them to me.

Great, I'm building my dino stocks up for some good hunting. Where did you get the triceratops skeleton from? I want at least 1 preferably 2.

They look like HLBS compsognathus (compies). You have to ask for them as they are not on the website

Didn't know what a "dig-a-dino" set is but I found this picture in the importer's website :

So I guess the answer is yes  :)

Yes the composognathi are from HLBS. Someone in this forum pointed me to them a few months ago !
