I am still working on the forces of Captain X. Though I have found the time to starte a minor villian in the hunt for unobtanium. His alias is Philias Frog and right now I am getting some help in finding his real name.

You can find WIP-pictures and the beginning of his background here, (text in danish):

Very nice!

Alas, my Danish is extremely poor and could not find out the make of this figure.
Also the lady [indian or arabian] which presumably is inspired by Auda of the "round the world in 80 days" is a lovely miniature. Who makes her?

Thx, it's the Baron Frankenstein set from Westwind Production. I think she's supposed to be caucasian but it could be fun to paint her indian...

Baron Frankenstein from Westwind Production's Vampire Wars

Edit: And Thyge just beat me to it....  lol

Thanks both.
Although I have lots of figures from them I do not have this particular pack.

It is interesting for a couple of personalities!

By majority vote Philias Frog is now also known by his true name Siegfried von Spunkenhand.

(http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m164/elThyge/maleguides/Miss%20PFx/mpfx005.jpg)

And his girlfriend adventuress is now finished. I've had some comments, that the dear Siegfried looks like a real wanker, and continued that into a Euro-trash couple in perfect Queen of Hearts style.

Siegfried will control a force build as a handler army.

Finally painted two of the handlers. I'm way behind the others in my quest for unobtanium but my forces are growing. ;)

Looking great!!

What are you going to use them for?
Title: Re: Philias Frog aka Siegfried von Spunkenhand
Post by: elThyge on 12 December 2009, 04:53:54 PM
Spunkenhand can create huge frogs but their minds are still very basic. The handlers will act like officers helping the frogs follow some basic instructions - among them staying on the battlefield.

(http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m164/elThyge/figurindkoeb/fn038.jpg)

(http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m164/elThyge/figurindkoeb/fn040.jpg)

When finished Mr. Jones will have his own special group of failed human eksperiments.

I'm not sure if the Gaslight rules can handle it but it looks as if I'm building a close combat army.

They can but you'll need about twice as many troops as your opponent otherwise you'll just get gunned down.

D'oh - well the army was never planned to be that big anyway...

One more of the handlers. He hasn't got a full name yet, but he talks in a mix of words from all over the world. When cursing he especially uses a mix of spanish and portuguese. I was thinking of el Something...

He is armed with a pumpgun but hopefully we can pretend it's somekind of great breachloading singleshot elefantgun/cannon.

@Whiskyrat:

Thx, I have started on a "template" frog, though I've shifted to a colour scheme based on these pictures. The change from yellow to bright green and then into a more brownish green looks good. Especially with the black/dark contrast spots.

(http://webbiologen.dk/zoologi/gronfro2.jpg)

I hope to be able to present the finished template in the near future.

I have finished "Lydia, oh Lydia" as Von Spunkenhand calls her, (his only experiment not refered to just as a number).

(http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m164/elThyge/VSF%20Siegfried%20Von%20Spunkenhand/VS018.jpg)

And that's the base for the first unit.

They are looking damned cool though!  :D

@Thorbjørn:

That's what happens when you believe/trust in democracy. I asked for som names, put it to a popular vote on PF and Baron Siegfried von Spunkenhand won.

@rob_alderman:

I have three leftover Paspatwos who will all be part of this unit, (see earlier pictures). I can recommend the Westwind Production miniatures I have used. Nicely sculpted faces and a pleasure to paint.

I'll look forward to your throng of mental patients.  ;D

If I remember correctly, Siegfried was my suggestion (but not the filthy last name though  ;))

I'm greatly hournered that democrasy finally payed some respect my way  :-*

I'm also trying to figure out a way to use the inmates in some games, and your painting deffinately inspires me to think harder...

Well, the resemblance is stunning though not intentionel. :D

The red, white and black is inspiration from the Queen of Hearts. I'm going to bring it over into a personal guard of Cossacks.

I'll probably use BOB cossacks as well as West Wind ones and some FOundry Crimean War Russians.  :)

Post by: elThyge on 30 March 2010, 02:12:19 PM
@Rob_alderman:

Made for Vampire Wars they are some what more "Flashy" than the usual cossack: Which make them perfect for my Philias Frog VSF Army.

The series is on the large side of 28mm, so compared to fx Foundry you might have a small difference in figure size?

Yeah, my VSF stuff comes from all sorts of manufacturers. I am trying not to worry TOO much about scale.

Though I got the Tsar and the Personal bodyguard, and the guard are HUUUUGE. My explaination is that only the largest Russians were chosen for his guard and given a high protein diet.

I might just get the Vampire Wars Cossacks. Not sure atm as the copplestones are cheaper and nicer...

(http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m164/elThyge/VSF%20Siegfried%20Von%20Spunkenhand/VS026.jpg)

As a nobleman from the Balcans Philias is under the protection of his own personal guard. All members are the firstborn set of male twins born by the seventh male twin born to one family, (sources indicate it to be more common in the old days). According to an ancient law reaching back to the time before christianity the ruler of Potsylvania has the right to call such boys his own from their sixtht year. The last boys where claimed by Philias Grandfather 43 yers ago.

Modern science deny any connection between being twins of a twin in regard to combat effectiviness, but military advicers world wide regard them to be a highly effective combat unit.

Well, both my VSF projects are well and alive. The lesson by now should be never to start two armies within one system/world at the same time. Sadly, I never seem to learn it - it feels so good to just run with a new idea. :)
