Off to do some Napoleonics but I'll be adding to this set from time-to-time

-
You forgot the Norfolk! Sorry, I've had a beer. ;D
-
Great figs, are they 28mm? And if so who makes them?
I like the kinfolk the best, great figs, and they've even got a dog!
-

I like the kinfolk the best, great figs, and they've even got a dog!
I second all that. Great stuff. Who makes 'em?
-Doc
-
Cunningly I included a link to the full details:
http://www.matakishi.com/saucerpeople.htm
They are all made by Inkerman Castings, a part of Britannia Miniatures.
I have some Copplestone, Westwind and Shockforce figures to add before I do the Black Cat little green men.
-
Matakishi I thought you had already painted up a saucer load of Griffin Miniatures Alien Grays? :D
-
Mmmm' Wimminfolk. If I wor an alien, I shure wud get me sum 'o them.
I see the Kinfolk brung the weddin' shotgun. :-* :-* :-*
-
I see the Kinfolk brung the weddin' shotgun. :-* :-* :-*

The first of my alien overlords...
There's more hillbillies, Critters and livestock on my site, I seem to have been lax in updating this thread :(
http://www.matakishi.com/saucerpeople.htm
-
lol
-
Invasion of the giant Slugs! Great work on the figs, love the kinfolk. Always gotta have a Cletus and Bubba in there ;D
-
Love Bufus the hound dawg!
And this slug is so buck tooth he can eat a corn cob through a wire picket fence.
Where did you get him? Nevermind... I'll learn to read the damn posts and links on day! o_o
Amazing attention to detail on his markings... he truly looks slimy to the touch! :-X
-
That's awesome mate. Keep it up.
Love that model. If not for anything but the story behind it. :)
-
WOW I want one
-
Damn, that's awesome.
-
Minions for the Slug Lord...
And a Bigfoot for variety.
http://www.matakishi.com/saucerpeople.htm
-
Those slugs are fantastic! The Bigfoot looks just like it came off a dodgy home-movie.
Great work :-*
-
The Bigfoot and slugs came out pretty well.
-
Brill figures mate
Nice painting skills too :)

Here in Denmark there's been alot of fuss about 'killer Slugs' (roughly translated), that are a not native species that have arrived in Denmark and eating everything. Last summer I was killing around 50 each day just in our back garden - maybe this is just but the first wave of the invasion!
-
Almost certainly, so now you are...Dijit...Defender of the Earth!! lol
-

Interfering kids arrive to see what all the fuss is about

But wait...

And, for the bad guys:

-
That stuff is nice I am a realy big fan of your work.
please more
Grimm
-
Great work Matakishi. I like that you also included a not-Scrappy Doo.
-
I've been meaning to pick up a Scooby Van for ages - nice stuff!
-
Huh. I get it. Very clever. Not-Shaggy must have collected some 'pods' thinking they were "like, some glorious alien pizzas"... Velma, she always saves the day, managed to save the gang from a terrible fate -but not before Mystery, Inc. was duplicated by the evil pod bio-technology.
;D
-
This is so great, Paul, very like that bus! Now have to think about how to put the Scooby-Doo gang in the Atomic Cafe world :)
-
The VW is made by Lledo and comes like this straight out of the box.
-
Wow! Love the whole "Destroy all Humans" feel.
And love the Scoobie Doo set (except Scrappy, I hate him)
Daphnie! Ooh, baby baby!
(I dated a girl just because she looked exactly like Thelma in law school)
-
I was wondering how you found the ape-x mini, I hear very few things about it and what I do hear is mixed. I assume the hand options are perfect for magnetizing?
-
In what way? It was easy to paint :)
You could add magnets to the hand options if you wanted, not something I'd ever bother with my self but the joins are simple ball joints.
-
Mainly stuff about the fur being badly sculpted, with hairs looping back or something like that.
I think I can see what people mean in the pictures on the reaper site, but not on painted models.
-
I didn't notice anything wrong with it.
-
I'm still working on this but I really need to make the farmhouse and sort out the rules. Never mind, here are some more alien stowaways, rabid haggis from Black Hat Miniatures but painted as Blue Meanies for the purposes of the game.
All the old stuff is here if you've forgotten :)
http://www.matakishi.com/saucerpeople.htm
I seem to have missed these out too, I'm sure I remember posting them, oh well...

-
Fantastic! :-* :-* :-*
-
I'm delighted you resurrected the project...I would have never seen it otherwise. Beyond being a highly imaginative game with OH-SO-COOL, BEAUTIFULLY painted minis, like all your projects the enthusiasm generated is PURE INSPIRATION...VERY WELL DONE!
-
Great painting. Really enjoyed it. Thanks. Richard.

Whilst waiting for another building roof to dry I spent today making this little barn as the start of my Hillbilly farm
(http://www.matakishi.com/Barn%20build%20016%20600.jpg)
edit: fixed the roof that was bothering me and so I've changed the pics :)
-
How to build a barn:
http://www.matakishi.com/thefarm.htm
If Harrison Ford isn't available of course.
-
VERY NICE WORK! Funny thing is that when you mentioned making a barn, the image of Harrison Ford in Witness popped into my head...great minds & all that.
-
Stunning Paul!
You are my hero!
-
Cracking little barn, Sir :)
RMZ
-
Great looking barn! Generic enough to cover almost any time period.
-
Cool!! I especially love the aliens that look if they belong out of the Simpsons!
-
The farm house is nearly built, I just need to do the roof and front/side porch.
http://www.matakishi.com/thefarm.htm
I made a pigsty too.
-
I want to move to the UK just so I can game with all the lovely toys you make!
-
Great stuff Paul :-*
Just to confirm, are you using the cork tiles from Wickes?
-
I would do if my local Wickes sold them. I get mine from a wholesaler but Wickes' tiles are fine if you have some.
-
Thanks Paul, there's plenty at my local Wicke's so if you need any before the next Tea Party give me a nudge.
-
All done, on to the painting next...

-
Brilliant Paul!
Send me one. lol
-
Post operation lethargy has left me with four weeks off work and no painting done. However, this has meant I could do some thinking and some writing so I've finalised the rules, design and content of the game that accompanies this project. Better late than never I guess :)
This will be one of the games I put on at BLAM this year, a five player extravaganza of Alien menace and Moonshine. Innovative in all respects (of course) and full to bursting with creatures and weirdness. Players will be controlling: Grey aliens, Green aliens, Hillbillies, Government agents and Interested Interlopers as well as a motley (and huge) assortment of otherworldly stowaways and Galactic flotsam.
here's a sketch of the 6 x 4 table layout:
-
Wonderful! It will be fantastic no doubt. In fact I hope you'll bring it to a certain event...
I think you want to make the cake smaller though. ;D lol
-
The cake is an integral part :) Some people think it says lake, the fools!
The factions:

-
:-* - great stuff as usual Paul ;D
-
I've made a preliminary pdf of the rules. At the moment it's hidden at the bottom of the project page here:
http://www.matakishi.com/saucerpeople.htm
It's a 10Mb download.
After BLAM once I have pictures of a few games in progress and some shots of the table I'll make a proper one with a full card set etc and post it more prominently, until then it'll be our little secret :)

Sheep from Black cat Bases:

Worms from Ainsty:
-
Paul you're bonkers! :D :D :D
Looking forward to this as usual. Even though it's half a year or so..
-
Very nice Paul, looking good.
-
Thank you. I just remembered I need a shed for the goats.
-
I see what you did there, Matakishi... ;D
Shed-master (http://hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=boy-in-goat-suit~hfn017&category=miniatures~non%252dcoms-%26-civilians)
-
Wicked, cool. :D
-
The Little Green Men and their Tentacled Attack Monstrosities are all done (all figures from Black Cat Bases).
I also painted a few more Irregular miniatures' Spice Lice to bring the numbers up so I could use them instead of Greys.
But then I saw that Tengu Miniatures did some cheap Greys so 32 of them arrived today and they're back on the menu. Pics later when I've painted them.
So, as things stand now, the LGM are complete, the Greys are waiting to be done, the Government Investigators are complete but need to be based, the Interested Interlopers are all complete except for a local Sheriff and Deputy which are on order from Miniature Heroes and the Hillbillies are done except for nine figures that are currently on the painting desk half finished.
I need to paint the farm buildings and a couple of flying saucer kits, make some sheds and fences and print the cards then it's all systems go for BLAM this year.
http://www.matakishi.com/saucerpeople.htm
-
Good job Paul!
I like the female spice lice you did. ;)
It only makes sense to have the females in more earthly tones so they wont be detected...
-
Well spotted :)
Ok, nearly done now. Here are the Greys, they're from Tengu models and they're teeny-weeny.
And here are the last of the Hillbillies:
And the whole clan:
There are more and bigger pics on my site.
http://www.matakishi.com/saucerpeople.htm.
Of the final two factions, the Government Investigators are being rebased so they'll be finished soon and I'm waiting on two Reaper miniatures to complete the Interested Interlopers. It won't be long before everything (except the scenery and the spaceships) is done.
This has morphed from a small idea into my largest project as far as figures go. The five factions each have 11 bases, mostly with three miniatures on each, there are 21 bases of livestock and 40 groups of Alien Stowaways. Each stowaway group has an average 3 bases with 3-4 miniatures per base. Roughly 550 - 600 miniatures total for the game, not bad for a pulpy skirmish :D
Later on when everything's finished I'll take a group shot and do a final count up.
-
Cool miniatures.
I love these Hillbillies Vs. Aliens projects. :-*
Why is a Sasquatch part of the hillbilly clan?
Is it someone's ugly aunt or uncle?
-
He's a cousin.
-
He's a cousin.
Thanks for clarifying. :D
-
Ok, nearly done now. Here are the Greys, they're from Tengu models and they're teeny-weeny.
Is that "true teeny-weeny" or "heroic teeny-weeny"?
Nice stuff.
-
Who makes the lafy with the yellow dress and the cowgirl with the white hat?
Fantastic project by the way, I am jealous! :o :o
-
Yes!
Wonderful! This will be brilliant.
-
Is that "true teeny-weeny" or "heroic teeny-weeny"?
True teeny-weeny.
Who makes the lafy with the yellow dress and the cowgirl with the white hat?
Britannia Miniatures.
This will be brilliant.
I hope so :)
-
True teeny-weeny.
Britannia Miniatures.
I hope so :)
I don't see them on the Britannia page... Does anyone know if they are still available?
-
They're not listed. Originally Dave did them as part of his Inkerman Castings line along with the Malayan Emergency figures. Grubby Tanks doesn't seem to list them though. I haven't had any luck with queries to the new Britannia site but it might be worth asking them, you might be luckier than me.
-
The Government Investigators:
More photos of these tomorrow.
-
The investigators look great!
I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures of them. :-*
-
Here we go then:
First the Men (and women) in Black
(http://www.matakishi.com/MIB%20multi%201%20600.jpg)
The Hazardous Substances and Lifeforms clean up squad
(http://www.matakishi.com/Cleanup%20squad%20multi%201%20600.jpg)
The VIP close protection squad (used in this scenario to protect the scientists but shown here with a shady politician).
Also not appearing in Invasion of the Saucer people but rebased yesterday anyway, some Spugs!
Two squads with burrower worms

Totally wicked cool. :D
-
Totally wicked cool. :D
Thanks muchly :)
Whilst waiting for the last of the figures to arrive I'm painting my Zulu War British. I don't think I hate anything as much as painting red jackets with white belts :(
-
Cool looking Spugs, does anyone know if there will ever be more of them?
-
Great work Paul! Your project is coming along nicely!
-
Great project,more please. :-*
-
Another great project... ;D
I have no time for a new project...I must resist temptation... o_o
...
Resistance is futile! :D
-
I do like following a Matakishi project, and this is a right proper silly one. ;D
I loves it! lol
-
More Alien Stowaways, this time STAs from a Toy Story:
And, although they're not going to be used in this project after all, I'm going to post these here too. Spice Lice colony towers.
Also good for Spugs :)
The towers are banksia nuts, available for about £5.00 each off ebay if you're not lucky enough to live in a country where they grow.
-
Oh, and good news, the nice man at Grubby Tanks is going to try and find the molds for the Britannia Hillbillies.
-

Excellent work Paul.
Two squads with burrower worms
(http://www.matakishi.com/Spugs%20squads%20multi%201%20600.jpg)
Who makes these worms?
-
Mongoose oop.
-
Mongoose oop.
Wild guess would be that it may be available through Rebel Minis as a 15mm monster soon... some of the other OOP SST stuff is.
-
(http://www.matakishi.com/twin%20towers%20spice%20lice%201%20600.jpg)
These are great. Very weird and alien. Love 'em! :D
-
These are great. Very weird and alien. Love 'em! :D
They are often available through woodturning suppliers - we picked some up from Boroughbridge.
They are all different shapes and sizes, if you find a stockist you can pick one to suit.
-
My Reaper sheriff and deputy arrived.
They complete the Interested interlopers faction; Police, reporters and amateur sleuths.
That's all the miniatures painted, now on to the scenery :)
Bigger pics and more info on my site
http://www.matakishi.com/saucerpeople.htm
-
Just all brilliant always a joy to view and look, amazing
-
:-*
Great project!
Lots of super minis and toooons of imagination!

Very nice project :) and great paintjobs.

Fantastic build! and paintjob,.
-
Thanks :) I'm very pleased with them.
-
This project is wonderful. Your farm needs an outhouse though.
-
More farm buildings. From vision to reality at the rate of one a day. there'll be painted versions soon :)
The 'vision':
The reality:

-
Ooh! :-*
-
Good to see you've included a holiday home for Stedley. :D
Love this project of yours.
-
A chicken coup sounds scary. :o
-
They're very dangerous when riled and tend to resent the arbitrary slaughter of their kind at meal times. If they ever get alien technology their anger will know no bounds.
they've named their house in honour of their eventual goal.
-

Wow those look sheds great. :-*
I literally let out a spontaneous audible "wow" when I saw them. lol

Love this project of yours.
I noticed that immediately too. ;)

The boat house. I'm making a small lake for this to sit on.

The jetty steps down from the lake terrain piece onto the tabletop which is why it has an extra step at the back.
-
Top notch!
-
Cracking Paul!! :o
-
Looks awesome! It will look fantastic alongside a water feature. :o
-
Matakishi, it's with projects like this you inspired me to start making my own terrain!
-
Matakishi, it's with projects like this you inspired me to start making my own terrain!
Well that's a good thing. Terrain making one of the best things about the hobby as far as I'm concerned and everyone should try it at least once.
-
Looking great. I get so jealous when people actually move forward with a project......mine tend to get started and then the next one takes over. Need more focus.............
-
Here are the new buildings finished:

The boat house and jetty is also done but the lake isn't finished, pics when everything's complete and then a group shot next week I hope.

-
Looks great :)
-
Really nice !
Where do you get that cork ? I never found anything else than thin sheets (expensive) or 1 piece boards (really expensive, and too flexible) to pin documents on it. I never found that kind of rigid and thick cork anywhere ???
-
Yeah paint made it all better
-
Paul
These look brill - looking forward to seeing them in the flesh next week !

You need to look for cork flooring tiles.
-
The lake, boat house and jetty. The transition from lake to river isn't exact as I'm out of the paint I originally used but I have some on order. As it stands it's 'good enough' to give an idea of the finished piece.

Like it!
Was there much research involved in the construction of the still?
;)
-
Lovely updates. I can't wait to see some in game pics! :-*
The truck looks nice. I've been meaning to base a few of my post apoc cars in a similar way.
Viking, "Invasion of the Saucy People" ?
I'm not sure if that was a typo or intentional, but it was funny either way! lol

Game shots from BLAM 2012.
We had two games. The first one was played by wargamers as a wargame and took a while to finish because they eschewed keeping their tokens for victory points in favour of cashing them in for more troops.
The second game was played by more boardgame savvy types who hoarded their tokens which made it much quicker. The final result was very close in this second game with only 4 points separating all five players.

A huge THANK YOU to you too, Sir!
It was a wonderful, highly entertaining game.
Most definitely the wackiest game that I have ever played with more alien types than I think I have ever seen in any one place, including the Mos Eisley Cantina!
Bonkers, but brilliant!
(And great fun, waiting for the next crazy bunch of space squatters to appear from the HUGE collection that Matakishi has amassed.)
:)

Lovely looking game. It looked like a lot of fun. The BLAMers always impress! :-*

Looked great from where I was sitting :)
