Their faith apparently didn't protect them from zombie infections. Intended to be used as civilian zombies in Weird War II (their clothes are pretty period neutral), these excellent models are from the Lead Bones ranges by Recreational Conflict. The few assembled pictures I could find all had the cross on the front of the skewered vicar figure, but I like it better the other way around. As if someone tried to take him out from behind and failed.

I like em.
nice highlighting and the bases look great.
Undead nun cleavage is questionable. . . :o
-
Nice ones - I like them. Fit into any period, well, almost any. And nicely painted.
-
Very nicely done WK you have shown them off very well as good figures
-
Fantastic!!
The whole thing is great but the wood highlights are awesome.
Mac
-
Yes, I'm quite pleased as to how those came out. :)
All Vallejo colours: basecoat US field drab, paint on some lines in US tan earth and finally a few highlights of those lines with a mix of tan earth and a creamy white. Nothing complicated really.
-
Excellent stuff WK!
I agree with Doomhippie, these would look good in other periods aswell.

Technically, they're meant to be moderns, but I decided to use them in WW2. ;)
-
Those are nice. We are thinking about making a customer painted gallery, would you be interested in having yours put up?
Undead nun cleavage is questionable. . . :o
The idea is she got chowed down on... though I guess a zombie going for a nuns breast first is kinda more questionable. :)
-

Sure! For once they're not so bad I'd feel embarrassed about them. lol
-
nice painting. i know it can be a fear of painters when it comes to blood but these zombies are extremely clean?
TW
-
yeah I now, I don't do much gore on them. Just don't like the look, is all.
I did a little blood on the priest (around the wound and on the cross) because I thought it couldn't be avoided. :)
-
i like them. :D

"Let go of my leg!" ... is what this zombie would say if he was still capable of such basic thought. I'm sure the sentiment is still there. Not sure what the dog is thinking though. Is he protecting someone from the zombie or is he thinking "mmmm... walking lunch"? We'll never know. The figure is intended as a zombified civilian for the WW2 era.

The basic miniature is one of several plastic '30s themed figures that came with a 1/50 scale Lledo days gone car. Most of these figures are about 28mm and while some details like the faces are a bit lacking, they can be used as conversion fodder to come up with some unique figures. I replaced one arm and one hand with bits from the Wargames Factory zombie sprue (they're good enough for this purpose) and the head is a metal west wind zombie head.

Bloody Awesome!!! :o 8) :o
Excellent use of an otherwise "throw away" figure. Very nice work on the face BTW.

More zombies tomorrow. ;)

3 more WW2 zombies. I've looked at some colour pictures of the period dress and tried to paint their clothes in colour schemes that evoke the time.

Sir Winston "Zombie" Churchill
A miniature made by Blue Moon Manufacturing. The poor sod is still clutching his cigar. Good luck to find someone who'll light it for him. Can also be used as a random civilian zombie, like a big fat banker type.
Zombie mother with baby and zombie boy. Noone gets spared, not even the innocent. Both models are from West Wind and are intended as live French civilians. The slightly creepy look they have makes them very suitable to be made into zombies (or Innsmouth villagers). I added a few greenstuff details (wounds, torn clothing), but they probably would still have worked without that too.

I've been eyeing that French Civilians packs for some time now. Nice work.
-
Excellent work Sir! They have been nicely zombified. I see what you mena about the faces of the civillians, they are coarse.
-
Three more Civilian zombies. The old man in wheelchair is from Blue Moon Manufacturing (and supposed to be Roosevelt I think, but I'll get more use out of him as a generic zombie). The girls are from West Wind again, the French civilian pack, with some added "damage".

You'll have to show us a picture of your zombie horde. It must be impressive.
-
Well, so far it's only the nine figures in this thread (and 30 or so all different german zombies). :)
-
A very respectible start I'd say Mr. White Knight!
-
A small update this time (only one zombie). This one's cobbled together from various sources. Anglian Miniatures (now Empress Miniatures) militia head, 1/48 Tamiya torso, arms and legs from Wargames Factory and a healthy dose of greenstuff to blend it all together and to zombify the head.

And a (not so great) group shot of all the WW2 civilian zombies so far (10 figures):

They are excellent. The guy in the wheelchair is my favourite, I think, but the new kit-bashed/converted guy is excellently done too. Oh, and child-zombies are always great for the creepiness-factor. Ok, the zombie priest is brilliant too...
I know most Weird World War zombies tend to be Germans - at least most that I've seen! - so I'm interested in how these guys will fit into a game. It would make for a fantastic scenario if both sides had to worry about not only the enemy, but also the zombified citizens!
Excellent stuff - very nice conversions, and excellent painting.
-
wow!!! excellent perfectto!!

Two more civilian zombies for the WW2 era. An intrepid reporter and his sailor sidekick. They'd been in a lot of tough spots in their days, but always managed to come out of them unscathed. Until now that is...
Not sure how recognisable these iconic characters are to you international lot though...

Got the inspiration for this late one night (out of nowhere really), so looked at the WGF sprue for the best parts to use as dollies for these, threw in a West Wind zombiehead with peaked cap (after a bit of filing) and glued it together. Sculpted the details in the next day in two sessions (morning and afternoon). Painted the next day.

Zombie Tintin!
Those are brilliant - great idea, great green-stuffing too, and the painting is fantastic. Thanks for the WIP shots, because they really show how to go about green-stuffing details like these in conversions to completely change a mini.
Brilliant!
-
that's so cool lol
-
How could you? Tintin is a bit of an annoying goody-goody sometimes so I don't care about him, but not old Archibald! That's sacrilege! Wonderful work, WN. Actually, the Haddock could almost be a non-zombie version, just him caught on a bad day and full of Loch Lomond.
-
A truley great idea! I've always wondered what happened to him. I see you know your way around some green stuff Mr. White Knight.

Just enough not to get hopelessly lost. lol

These are brilliant :D :-* :D

While not planned originally when I did the zombie Tintin and Haddock, it was suggested I do more characters and since I enjoyed doing the first two so much... here are the twins.

As before, I used Wargames Factory plastic zombies as dollies and sculpted on the detail I wanted/needed. The canes are from a paperclip (green version below).

Brilliant!
I love these projects... :-*

Belgian’s finest at work… lol
Very good idea :-*

Green stuff work is brilliant :-*
Sub standard figures into master pieces
-
It's the best use I've found for them so far and it may yet be enough to make me get a second box later on. ;)
-
Blaspheme!
-
Amazing stuff!
I've been thinking about getting those Wargmaes Factory zombies for a while, and if I had your sculpting skills, I would! Actually, I still might get them, as they would get me practicing with the green stuff more, which can't be a bad thing.
Really excellent modelling and converting. A quick question - what rules are you using for your Weird War games? I picked up Secrets of the Third Reich a few days ago, and I have to say, I'm impressed with them. I've already planned a 50 point American force, and with inspiration from people like you and Pappa Midnight on this forum, I'm really looking forward to diving into WWW2.
As always, I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
-
For rules I have the SOTR rules (a Pacific Wars supplement is in preparation) and BG WW2. I also have the AE-WW2 rules for skirmish level, but haven't tried them yet. The trouble is not finding rulesets but opponents. lol
-
I know what you mean about the opponents thing, White Knight! I'm in the middle of my Old West project, but I've never played a game because nobody around here (in Kansas! The middle of the Wild West!) seems interested - at least not where I live. However, I like the idea enough to keep building and painting! Now the same thing is going to happen with SOTR - although I'm very excited to hear that there is a Pacific War expansion in the pipeline! Excellent! I hope this will mean more wonderful WWW2 Japanese from you as well!
-
No doubt. ;)

Another member of the Tintin zombie set: professor Calculus/Tournesol/Zonnebloem
(http://wk.frothersunite.com/misc/pics/zombies_calculus.jpg)
The green (remembered to take a picture just before priming). Like the others, it's greenstuff over a WGF plastic zombie.
And a group shot of the little set:

Great selection of zombies.Love the time spent on the conversions.Like the zombie with the dog best of the bunch.
-
Outstanding. 8)
-
Great work, but if you ask me, Calculus isn't Calculus without his hat.
Love the group shot. I can picture Snowy, not yet undead (er, or would that be 'not yet dead'?), running ahead of them contentedly with Thompson's arm in his mouth.
-
zombie snowy??? ;)
ace stuff!! i love tintin!
-
This is really outstanding Mr. Knight. Who's next to be zombified?
-
The dog. ;D
I was toying of giving these characters from the same era the same treatment, but I don't think they're as well known and it would kinda be copying myself.

I'm afraid I don't know them. what about Emily the little girl and the nuns?

I'm afraid I don't know them. ;)
While we're on European favorites, why not a Zombie "Little Prince", and a Zombie "Madeline"?;)
This is awesome stuff, WK.

I guess, but they wouldn't have that instant recognisability (no really set outfit and the like).
I do have a few more ideas for zombification of popular characters. ;)

Keep 'em coming, then! It's true, Belgium truly is a land of evil!;)

They are both instanlty recognizable to me.

Well, I think it'd be harder to translate that into miniature (zombies).
