Title: The Hamlet of Badger’s Chuff - making pirates

Lovely buildings. It's a hugely tempting sub-genre to get into. Do you have many of the Oathsworn figures?

About a dozen or so.  I’m waiting on the next Kickstarter release as there are a few nice ones coming up.  Lots of fun to paint, easy pick up to play and it seems many are getting their girlfriends and wives into it.....go figure!

Played two games this weekend.  Spent half the first one with a few figures toe to.....crap, searching it for contraband!

Not actually happy...won both but as a consequence, I four four times on slave trader on the wandering chart post games, and practically double my band.....now I have to get painting ! Pah!

Post by: Lovejoy on October 06, 2019, 05:37:16 PM
I'm amazed how often that Slave Trader result happens... it's only a 1 in 20 chance, but seems to come up all the time!

Digits, thanks.  I'd looked at the muddy field numerous times, and it's nice seeing it "in the flesh".  Great set-up.

No worries fella.  I think it’s perfect for this game.

Michael....biggest problem was I don’t have the pennies to kit them all out properly.  I rolled four times on the wandering table in the last game and rolled it three times!  I had already gained a medium at the end of the previous game.

Most upset though......having put your Kickstarter back until the end of the month, I have to take from what reserves I have 😢

Seriously though chaps, if you haven’t tried it yet, go play a game, super fun!

Former kingsman and law enforcer, Sandy “Sand” Castle’s world came apart when his wife and cubs were slaughtered by a notorious rogue fox  family after witnessing the murder of the district sheriff.  Castle himself was left for dead trying to defend them.

Recovering from his injuries, he went on to exact his revenge on the rogues, attacking them in a most vicious and brutal manner.

Now, in his blackened armour, with he the few creatures he allows to travel with him, take on rogues and disruptive elements, often employing the same underhand methods, terror tactics, traps and poisons for which the criminals are themselves known.

Now, he goes by another name.....

“The Punisher!”

Well, a little painting to make up the newly earned characters, and whilst at it, create a few for a new warband to build around the Punisher.

Only ever attempted colour reflection once before without any real success, though I’m quite pleased with this one on the otter mage.

The Badgers best mate, a shrewzerker in hot pants!

So, and I have a Sparrowhawk to paint, my warband as it currently stands, the marmot having finally made it in and having his pauldron painted to match this military order.  The little brown mouse is another new addition.

So I’m having my first game today with my new war band, should be fun.

Meanwhile, I’m waiting “patiently” for the new Kickstarter to arrive having gone all in.  It’s just a shame I have to wait sooooooooo long to get my hands on them!

Tbh they were bought years ago at a Wargames show however, easy enough to make.  Twigs set in tetrion terrain base with rubberised horse hair / quoir  (such as that you find in hanging baskets) glued to form foliage, painted, sprayed with adhesive and dipped in flock.....or you can just buy them at a show!  Actually I’ve seen them on line too.

 Cheers

David, Dave (of Bedworth) took a picture of some local scenery & got a poster shop
to enlarge it. It now provides a very nice backdrop to his table. Just a thought.
failing that have a look at Model Railways & their backgrounds. Bound to be some tree ones.

Been watching the Disney animated Robin Hood have you David?  lol

It was the very first Disney film I was taken to as a kid ( I rember the cinema in Canterbury) so it must have struck a chord!

So I have a small demo game to put on this weekend.

The third warband is complete with its leader, Horace the Hare.

Horace is the twisted and vindictive brother of Hartley, Captain of my Royalist patrol.

Jealous of his more famous and courageous sibling, whatever exploits Hartley and his followers are lauded for, Horace is always keen to upstage them in a more violent and shocking manner.

When Hartley lost his eye fighting to defend Clapham pass, Horace was so outraged at the the thought of this heaping yet more praise on his oh so brilliant brother, that he gouged out his own eye with a dinner fork just to show his dining companions that it was a mere trifle!  However he now he now resents Hartley even more for having forced his hand…

Will be playing a few games next week with my son.  “Yes, I’d like to play Kindred, but can I please have a badger?”

Oh well…a break from painting Crusading minis for a minor excursion.

One badger ranger for his kindred.

And an updated family picture of the Kindred

Cheers.

A couple of last minute mice.   Not quite so confident painting the smaller critters.

Thanks guys.

Yes luckily these minis almost paint themselves.  Lovely crisp detailing.

Cheers.   Yup Tuck and Marian, Robyn and Little John being the obvious minis…😉

Any they just handed my Royalists a right pummelling.   No wonder our lad wanted me to paint the badger.   Give it a war bow and a few bodkin arrows and it just bettered me! lol

Decided I need a new gang….pirates.   I have ordered the few options available…but feel I need a tad more choice.

First up…I converted the shinty star mini into a marooned fellow I call “ Ben Gunther”

I have also tweaked the fox assassin into a mini I call “Billy Boots”….painting him next…
