Cheers lads.

@Von Lucky; currently, Triumph and Tragedy with the WSS (61) article on the Trojan war or Lion Rampant with the WSS (82) Chariot rampant variant.

Triumph and Tragedy with the WSS (61) article on the Trojan war

Wow, been ages since we devised these amendments for our game at Hamburg Tactica… 2012?  o_o Pleased to know that someone gives them a try. :)
A very fine force so far, very well painted. The reins on the chariot are a nice touch.

Thanks for the compliments, gents.

@Mad Doc, any game photos from 2012 online?  Also curious about unit sizes since I haven't played T&T yet.

Only a couple here (http://www.hamburger-tactica.de/alt/tactica/img/fotos_2012/Troja/gallery.html). We never got round to taking photos ourselves – obviously too busy game-mastering. :D Seeing the table now (which was done in a hurry just the night before), we had better looking games thereafter…
Re unit sizes, IIRC the article provides our warbands as samples. We used four to ten or twelve men per 'squad', but you can go bigger with T&T.

Ah, glad you asked.  :)  It's standard copy paper cut into thin strips, super glued in place.  I then run super glue over all of the reins, so it soaks in.  I *hope* this will be provide a strong enough model if used with care.

Very inspiring idea!
Your work is top notch! Neatly painted figures and I like how you made the hide on the shields and the wood grain! Cheers!

Those ox-hide shields are really ace painted! And from your pictures, I must say that I rather like the Redoubt models. On their HP the figures don’t look that good.

I like these, well done.
As for reins of working game figures. My old solution was to cut up old lead paint tubes. Flatten then cut into strips. But now that is harder to find.
Now I use foil from wine bottle covers, flattened and burnished. But now I don't do wine, so that's out.
I'm looking for a hobby solution since I need to do some reins.
In my area paper infused with glue always breaks down over time to the coastal climate and super dry periods. I have tried white glue, super glue, and various clear coats with limited success. The metal one stay around. They may come unattached but they don't dissolve entirely.

Linked is an example of lead sheet reins.

Jjonas; thanks for the tips, some more to think about.

Just a quick photo of the process:

Burnish the wine bottle foil.
Tape an edge and cut into 1mm (or so) strips.

The end result is a bendable strap that can be placed, glued, and holds its shape.

I prime with gloss white to give these real solid base.

I intend to write this up fo the website soon. But this is about as complicated as it gets. The great part is one can glue the ends on the blind sides, you don't need knots, and they stay stuck. Also a good technique for adding sword straps and flaps to figures. There I like to fill in with white glue to give it paintable depth.

Finally got to use the warband last weekend.

"Raiding parties of the enigmatic Sea People had been seen making landings in Mycenaean territory.  The Wanax Demonax sallied forth from his stronghold to deal with the threat.   Two ferocious battles were fought before the raiders were either slaughtered or pushed back into the sea, victory each time to Demonax the Destroyer, increasing his prestige and power... but not without cost."

As far as I know, the addon rules are only available through buying Wargames Soldiers and Strategy issue 82, which you can get in PDF from Karwansaray publishing.

Okay, thanks. I just found them. Since it’s a pdf, it won’t take weeks to arrive and customs and handling fee.

I am tempted!
