After a bit of a break from organized gaming we had our first get together since the Conquest convention in May. The premise being a workers uprising on a British Colonial plantation.
Restday on a colonial plantation usually involved a more sedate form of rest and relaxation for the workers overseers on a plantation. This Restday happened to also fall on the first day of a local harvest holiday and the local priestess decided to use the opportunity to strike a blow at the perceived oppression of their colonial employers. The priestess and her acolytes(armed thugs) appeared at the compound with a wagon full of casks of yellow wine. All night long the workers drank and listened to the harsh words of the priestess exhorting the workers to rise against their oppressors. By morning those that had weapons had gathered them a small horde of angry, drunken workers advanced on the plantation compound, burning and looting as they came.

Hearing word of the approaching mob the plantation owner sent a runner up the road to the nearby colonial naval post for help. Women and children were hustled into the safest part of the house while the owner organized a quick defense. The British workers formed a defense around the workhouse while the owner, his son's and the household staff took up positions in the residence yard.
The evening was very enjoyable and we were able to introduce the Valor, Steel and Flesh rules to a few new players.

A patrol of British Marines show up just as the rabble comes into sight. With orders to put down the riot with as little loss to life and property as possible the Ensign in charge of the Marines forms a line on one flank to force the drunken workers to bunch up on the center road where more troops were expected to arrive shortly.

The plan was successful at first but the Marines had not counted on armed resistance in the form of the Priestess and her followers. As the Marines wheeled around the corner of a building to face the channeled rioters, the cultists opened fire with a volley from their radium rifles.

Almost half the Marines went down and the order to return fire was immediate. Losses were heavy among the cultists as well. At this time a unit of rioters charged into and were quickly broken by the Marines but a second volley from the fanatic cultists all but wiped out the marine unit. More rioting workers pour into the compound.
Shortly after this last picture was taken a column of British sailors arrive and began firing on the rioters. The cultists turn around to exchange fire with the sailors but end up being destroyed by a charge of mounted dragoons. The rest of the rioters withdraw taking their plunder with them.

As the Industrialist I must say that while the Naval unit did a bang up job suppressing the riot, it would have been apreciated if they could have killed a few less of the workers. Damn hard to train to red blighters.
It was a great game Mike, thanks for posting the pictures.
I will be using some of the same buildings in my Gangster game this Friday.
