What I’ve been up to for the past couple of weeks.

Time well spent.

Meh, a mere skirmish force ;) :D
Really lovely stuff Chris :-* :-* :-*

Lovely painting on those Gendarmes. I guess that you use the 3 firms miniatures in different units given the size of Steel Fist against say the Foundry gendarmes.
-
I’m not going to mix them in the same units, but in different units they are fine, and the difference in size is actually a lot less than I first thought.
Left to right: Perry, Foundry, Eureka, Steel Fist
No problem with Perry and SteelFist together, likewise Foundry with Eureka, or maybe Foundry with SF or Perry, but I wouldn’t put Eureka in with SteelFist or Perry

Excellent work! And thanks for the comparisons between the ranges!

Very nice, great work.
It's such a shame I think that they aren't all the same scale, as I think both the Foundry and Eureka sculpts look fantastic, and I'd love to see them all mixed together into one unit. Especially as the armour and barding on the Steel Fist sculpts are more on the 'extreme' side of military fashion, it would be nice to mix in the 'plainer' Foundry and Eureka ones in with them.
Nice to see you've got the Steel Fist late medieval knights too, these are only the second painted examples of them I've seen so far.
-
Those Steel Fist horses look like they've been hitting the oats a little too hard.
-
That is some gorgeous work and the range comparison is very useful.

They are fabulous mate

Hello,
Impressed by these nice miniatures !!

Very impressive cavalry force. Great that you managed to hold back posting until everything was finished. It looks awesome.
Can you by any chance do a group foto of the unit based on the Perry miniatures. I have a box of their knights and I want it to look like gendarms, so inspiration is very welcome.
Cheers

Thank you, very kind words.
Umm I’m afraid I’m not finished with Gendarmes at all. Probably about halfway. There are 48 figures pictured, in the last couple of days I’ve finished another 12, but ultimately I want about 120ish
The Perry Plastic set are a bit earlier. They don’t Have the monstrous plumes and padded coats of the early 16th century Knights so are very different. Here are some I painted as Burgundians

Gosh, they are nice. :-* :-*

You are probably right as fare as the dating of the Perry Knights go. This guy however managed to paint them in en very gerdarmylike style I think.

120 Gendarmes, crazy and rash, but I love it Chris!

Handsome work and an impressive degree of ambition. That’s about 10 years output for me lol

Is anyone using Essex Miniatures Gendarms?
When you need 120 ;D you might need something to chose from.
Cheers
