thanks!
dwarves are from Olleys Armies and Reaper
-
Too tempting  Cheers
-
I'm working one some older Olleys dwarves at the moment. Prof, can you tell me how large his new dwarves are? Looks like they're as tall as Foundry and I remember the Foundry dwarves to be quite large, like the Reaper dwarves.
-
yes, they are large, ca. 28-30mm
-
Tres Bon, mon Amis. :D

Ooohhh, Nord Kegbreaker! I LOVE the little stumpy! Used him as my D&D character figure for years, a Moradin cleric on a quest for gold (to build a temple) and fair elven maidens (to work as temple wenches).
Great job on the Barbarian Babe, too. The other two dwarves are a bit to "huddled" (sculpt, not painting!) to make out the details, but the painting is great. Love the blue-yellow striping.

these Foundry ones are for a comission, strange sculpt and really bad casting, it was a pain to paint, happy to leave them behind

pirates are coming...

Nice one! I also started on pirates tonight!

Nice one! I also started on pirates tonight!
really right decision, Dom! This world needs more painted pirates, there arent enough of them, that's fact! :D
(http://www.witchhunter.net/blog/images/07_03_26_pirate.jpg)
-
Well, actually I'm not really painting pirates...I'm painting the "law and order" side - the Royal Navy!
Pirates need someone to fight!! :D
-
Great pirates! I have a pirate and merchant ship coming from Gerard and it will hopefully arive soon since I need to start planning photos for Under the Black Flag.
These figures would look great on board, so just feel free to send them my way whenever you get bored with the Professor. :D
And I just got the manuscript from Pete for Under the Black Flag. All kinds of pirate-y goodness.

Can't wait for Pete's pirate book!

Maybe it was a little bit too late on saturday evening? Looks like you have been tired when painting the Barbarian Queen, surely not your best work. Either that or she ain't Copplestones best work.

-
Prof., could you stop it please?!?
I was going to place an order with Foundry before the pricerise without any of the pirates, but now I just need to have them too!! The models are great and your painting makes them look fantastic :)
Bah, now I'm confused as to what to order :?
Oh, and when will there be a new workbench and wip pictures? I always love them
-
just buy them all, you cant have enough pirates :)
-

Dom, what miniatures are you using for Royal Navy?
-
just buy them all, you cant have enough pirates
Bah, I was already afraid you would say that
I still have 1 or 2 weeks to make up my mind....
-
Hi Prof - Foundry Royal Navy Boarding Party (B141), Landing Party (B140) and Royal Marines (B142)
-
they're cool but I thought they were rather napoleonic? are they still suitable to the pirates?
-
Yah, they are Napoleonic, but I think we can fudge it abit.
I am also using some Foundry AWI figs for the Pirates in Caribbean look.
-
If you want to get pedantic about it, proper British Marines would have a low mitre and look like this (http://www.frontrank.com/images/wss/british/infantry/bs11_12lg.jpg). But who needs to be pedantic? :)
The professor is right. You can never have too many pirates.
-
I happen to be using Old Glory's OGP-14 European Sailors for my Royal naval crews. They work if not for some of the goofy postions the figures are in. You can see them here on my Blog at
http://cursedtreasures.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html
Scroll down to the RNC post. They work and have that 1730 feel to them...

The Drummer
(http://www.witchhunter.net/blog/images/07_05_24_pirate_drummer.jpg)

some money for the pirates :) The guy on the left at the moment is the candidate for the captain of my crew. Not sure if he looks enough frightening. What do you think?
-
The colours are a bit bright. Thus, he looks more like the flamboyant hardass, judging from the eyepatch... not really frightening, more of the impressive type.
-
I am very much the broken record here, Proff, but splendid work. That Renaissance condottieri looking fellow is a particular favorite.
-
He looks a bit frightening, but only in a panto kind of way.
"Oh no he doesnt......"
-
yes, guys, exactly what i thought, too colourful, too fashionable :) cancelled...
