Title: Basing Dragoons and mounted infantry?
Post by: vodkafan on April 19, 2020, 11:22:36 PM
I just wondered how different folks liked to generally represent Dragoons and similar types of troops that dismount to fight. I am quite taken with the idea of a multiple base with a mix of mounted and dismounted figures on it, whereas my usual wargaming pal dislikes that and likes to have different mounted and dismounted versions of the same troops. Of course it depends a lot on what the particular rules may dictate,  but I just wanted to gather opinions on what others like visually?

Different version of the trooper mounted and on foot for me, just find it easier to work with than a mixed base. :)

I would go for different bases and in fact am . Have Napoleonic British light dragoons already in their mounted version and singly based dismounted versions in the to do pile, along with horse holders of course.

Although I have done dismounted and mounted versions of the same regiment, if I was looking at primarily playing Pikeman's Lament or Rebels and Patriots I thin k I would go with a mix of minted and dismounted a la Dalauppror.
