Me likey :D

Good to see some Martians and lovely painting
-
Very nicely done. /what color did you use for the flesh?
-
Now THAT is how I’ve always imagine them to look, instead of the gaudy bright green most tend to gravitate to. As dusty as Barsoom seems to be, only freshly bathed Martians would have bright-ish skin shades.
-
Well done! I am a big fan of the line.
-
Such HAPPY chaps!
I agree, interesting take on the skin.

Beautifully done. That’s a lot of artistry packed into a 15mm figure.

A few more...

A question on the figures. In Barsoom the Martians are hatched from eggs. So why would a Martian have a belly button? Just wondering.

That's an old gunshot wound ... lol

That is where the foetus attaches to the yolk!

Wonderful painting :-*

Nice. Makes me want to start a similar project. Must resist!
-
They are absolutely fantastic. I hadn't considered 15mm for VSF... :D
-
Very nice

Next time I see a chicken, I’m going to have to look for a bellybutton. :)

America's so-called red men (native Americans) were not, of course, actually red but had a decidedly pinkish-red tone to their skin (and meaning no insult to our indigenous population here in North America, of course). So, a slight greenish undertone for Martian "green men" seems a very appropriate choice. Now - where is the Martian princess painted up so I can decide if I want to buy the pack she is in?

Unfortunately, Dags only paints 28mm or larger, so while he will happily paint the Giant Tribal Martians, all of which are that size, the 15mm princess is off the menu. I do have a set of characters painted up, but have to check them over for damage: unfortunately, age has not been kind to a number of the Martian Empires display figures, including most of the British that I originally painted for Black Hat when my eyes still worked properly.
I rephotographed some of the survivors recently and stuck the results up on the currently tiny Martian Empires Facebook group (new members welcome): https://www.facebook.com/groups/699293393894929/ (https://www.facebook.com/groups/699293393894929/)

Alas, Ian, I see but a small blue box with a white line and a white question mark. Perhaps there was meant to be a photograph?

Fine for me but here it is via Flickr....

Funnily enough the Flickr image is larger and does a better job of showing the minis!
This does really look an interesting scale for VSF...

I have been meaning to pick up the rules for Martian Empires for years.... but never quite pulled the trigger.

That's because I scaled the picture for display in the link HTML to stop a large picture going off screen and changing how every other post looks on the same page by extending the margins. :-)
I have no idea why you get a blue box with a question mark: it's simply an open web link to the image, rather than having to log in to Flickr or whatever.
It is a great size for VSF, though. The Martian tripod looks truly huge against 18mm figures.
