Title: The Armies of Oathmark
Post by: MustContainMinis on 10 May 2020, 08:22:06 PM
Osprey Games and North Star Military Figures have now released their newest Mass Combat Fantasy System - Oathmark. In it, you build a Kingdom and wage wars against your neighbors. There are four core races in the book (Dwarf, Human, Elf and Goblin/Orc). Those races all get along within a Kingdom, but will fight for their lords against neighboring kingdoms. How will you build your Kingdom?

Over on Must Contain Minis, I went through all of the races in the book and listed their advantages and disadvantages in the game. I also listed their unique units and talked a bit about the Kingdom building aspect of the game.

nice concise read, thanks  :)

still not sure I need more fantasy battle rules, but the mix and match Kingdom/armies are an interesting twist.

Certainly have existing miniatures that would be suitable...no, bad brain, stop thinking about another project  ::)

I like the rules and combined campaign system.
It has an old fashioned feel to it, and is pretty simple.
It reminds me of Warlords of Erehwon, in a similar vein.
Of course that’s for skirmish gaming, and this is more mass battles.

Overall, that cozy 1980’s early fantasy gaming feel.

Must be my age!

Thanks Tim for the feed back on the game. I haven’t played Warlords of Erehwon, but that on certainly caught my attention when it came out. I like the description you give it as a cozy 80s game.
