Title: Evil Dave's Epic Imperial Guard - 2022 Retrospective
Post by: Evil Dave on May 15, 2020, 02:26:58 PM
While I can appreciate the access 3D printers have brought to this hobby (and Epic in particular) my heart still yearns for a time when if you needed a unit that wasn't commercially available you converted it. You see conversions less and less these days, so I thought I'd try a little challenge: finish a 3k army without any 3d printing or custom casting shortcuts. We'll see how this goes, but I'd like to finish this up before NEAT this year (normally held at the end of June, but still tentative given the world right now).

For the army I went with Imperial Guard, specifically Minervans using the old SM/TL models. I thought it was fitting to use models that are pushing 25–30 years old as it adds to the nostalgia factor for me. Minervans also offer plenty of opportunities for easier conversions what with all the vehicle variants.

I didn't do anything special for the Manticores, aside from snipping off the wrecking ball on the back of their launcher. I have some 1/8" diameter adhesive fish eyes coming, they're used to make lures but I think they'll work out great as hatches. I plan to put a hatch on each one on the right hand side, as this will be useful for my Commissar characters (see below).

(https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wV2GifRfDZM/Xr6SO3YYaVI/AAAAAAAAiTU/4gUNv5-kZzESc-rRukheUUjkK7HvWB9ogCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0133%255B1%255D.JPG) (https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wV2GifRfDZM/Xr6SO3YYaVI/AAAAAAAAiTU/4gUNv5-kZzESc-rRukheUUjkK7HvWB9ogCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0133%255B1%255D.JPG)

The Salamander Scouts and Command are the most intensive conversions in this army, the back compartment was made out of plasticard square tubing and strips, filed and cut at different angles. The autocannons are nearly done, but I'm still trying to think of something for the heavy flamers aside from a plasticard build. These will get the hatches as well.

(https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TyC2aDTXnXY/Xr6SSjMq3JI/AAAAAAAAiTY/h1fyPyESqMEiKKF4CCWCEj-Y8R-873VmACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0134%255B1%255D.JPG) (https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TyC2aDTXnXY/Xr6SSjMq3JI/AAAAAAAAiTY/h1fyPyESqMEiKKF4CCWCEj-Y8R-873VmACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0134%255B1%255D.JPG)

The Exterminators just got some brass wire as autocannons, I'm going to try and put some muzzle details on the end. I doubt putty will stick to them so I'll likely try heating up and bending some thin plasticard strips. You can see my plans for Commissars here, I'm making plugs that I'll be able to move around. When a vehicle doesn't need a Commissar I'll just have some hatch plugs to put in their place.

(https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NJhJ-U9-CZ4/Xr6SV8qpn4I/AAAAAAAAiTg/kGQAVnit9TA66aVOYMSLI9D5asA_-rJQwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0135%255B1%255D.JPG) (https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NJhJ-U9-CZ4/Xr6SV8qpn4I/AAAAAAAAiTg/kGQAVnit9TA66aVOYMSLI9D5asA_-rJQwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0135%255B1%255D.JPG)

Finally, the only change I made to the Shadowswords was to use Squat heavy bolters for the sponsons. Not too bad, but then I realized I had to do 12 of them for the Storm Hammers… You can also see my Supreme Commander dude there as well, I need to sculpt his arms still.

Awesome stuff- love the upgrade work

And really glad you’re “doing” Guard- always my favourite epic army
Will follow with interest
Your last thread made me dig out and tidy up some of my Guard stuff
So will blatantly steal ideas and inspiration again :D

Nice Bob, what did you make the rolls/tarpaulin out of?
Title: Re: Evil Dave's Epic Imperial Guard - Building and Converting
Post by: bobhope on May 18, 2020, 07:53:58 PM
Rolls on these are Aluminium mesh for bundles and Aluminium foil for Tarps etc

Are you planning infantry?

Cool, they work well.

I have them for the army but won't get to them anytime soon. I'm most interested in doing all the Russ variants.

Still working on the conversions. The fish eyes came in so most of the tanks got them glued on. I still need to make some hatch plugs for some Salamanders and the Baneblade but that's mostly done. I also finished the Commissar plugs aside from sculpting the arms on them.

(https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RhUIrjgWzlA/XsfRdSSDbWI/AAAAAAAAiUc/rJXBeDG-fzEchEl2yBMkv2njo1xqcxWswCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0137.JPG) (https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RhUIrjgWzlA/XsfRdSSDbWI/AAAAAAAAiUc/rJXBeDG-fzEchEl2yBMkv2njo1xqcxWswCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0137.JPG)

The Salamander Scouts got their autocannons this week. I ended up hacking apart a Chimerax turret, brass wire and a plastic tube that I drilled out to make the muzzle. One turret got me two autocannons. I'm still thinking on the Command, I think I'm going to try and make a heavy flamer like the Hellhound's cannon out of plastic.

(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tEDgbM4opfw/XsfRf3LtSPI/AAAAAAAAiUg/iYollN6NsScZZs_h_YkrxMu21XW6MMQFwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0138.JPG) (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tEDgbM4opfw/XsfRf3LtSPI/AAAAAAAAiUg/iYollN6NsScZZs_h_YkrxMu21XW6MMQFwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0138.JPG)

The Exterminators got muzzles for their twin autocannons as well. I drilled out a plastic tube and cut away a small bit down the side so I could fit them side-by-side. They came out all right I think.

Excellent work, Epic was my first wargame and I still love it (although I’ve moved to net epic gold now). I love the use of FoW bases that’s genius. Anything you’re missing or need desperately?

Thanks BALM. There's a few things outstanding but nothing major (at least not for what I have planned for the tournament).

On the FoW bases, I needed something cheap and easy so these fit the bill. I'll have 140+ AVs and 15 WEs for this army, I didn't want to be spending time cutting and mag striping plasticard. Plus they'll match my knights, win-win.

So, why bases?
Age old debate I know.
Just prefer them or another reason?

And loving this thread.

So, why bases?

We play on sand textured tables, the bases protect the miniatures from it and it from the miniatures. Beyond that they help tie the army together in my opinion.

Post by: Evil Dave on June 05, 2020, 03:36:13 PM
Most of the building is finished, I just need to sculpt a few more arms on the Commissar markers. I also got the tanks glued to the bases. I used 30 minute epoxy for this, as I wanted something a little more supstantial that super glue.

(https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Mw5dCuC-o8w/XtpTRrrewBI/AAAAAAAAiWA/fjMqfIzKOzkjAC4lV60P_55wJbyzdT7kwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0140.JPG) (https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Mw5dCuC-o8w/XtpTRrrewBI/AAAAAAAAiWA/fjMqfIzKOzkjAC4lV60P_55wJbyzdT7kwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0140.JPG)

I came up with a heavy flamer for the Salamander Command, they're a multi-melta from the plastic Squat Trikes. I reworked the barrels a little bit to look more flamer-ish.

(https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NBhsMxcUkQ8/XtpTU79ZoVI/AAAAAAAAiWE/e5YudCYVdrsOkmdDyEHaKe3G1LMea2PIQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0141.JPG) (https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NBhsMxcUkQ8/XtpTU79ZoVI/AAAAAAAAiWE/e5YudCYVdrsOkmdDyEHaKe3G1LMea2PIQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0141.JPG)

The Baneblades are all done as well. They got twin heavy bolter sponsons, a new heavy bolter in hull turret, and new lascannon barrels that made them match the Leman Russ more.

(https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5DMAH251siE/XtpTVCvnNGI/AAAAAAAAiWM/892a9ZR847EalA3zm3IuUtRc-bP8a5s4gCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0142.JPG) (https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5DMAH251siE/XtpTVCvnNGI/AAAAAAAAiWM/892a9ZR847EalA3zm3IuUtRc-bP8a5s4gCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0142.JPG)

The Stormhammers all got their heavy bolter turrets as well. They weren't too bad once I drilled out the old barrel.

(https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mP5h9kWy1dg/XtpTVP6FRAI/AAAAAAAAiWI/wOBPR1FbgVUABS5b6Ayae-qteSeSGeZXwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0143.JPG) (https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mP5h9kWy1dg/XtpTVP6FRAI/AAAAAAAAiWI/wOBPR1FbgVUABS5b6Ayae-qteSeSGeZXwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0143.JPG)

Finally, here's more first pass on the color scheme. Thoughts? I was shooting for something suitably 90s GW. It's not to the level of the Eldar, more a tabletop level I think.

Scheme looks good :)

Maybe a thinned inkwash to bring out the panel lines and recessed details might make them pop a bit more?

Post by: BeneathALeadMountain on June 05, 2020, 10:06:53 PM
Great stuff but as Oshiro says a light wash or bit of pin lining will bring it all out beautifully.

Your work is excellent and is helping to motivate me during my COVID sheltering. I have both Ork and Squat armies (that each need to be reduced by 75% as they’re too big really and even then they’ll be big armies) that need to be tackled at some point soon.

Keep up the good work,

Not many updates but I've been slogging through the camouflage on the Armoured Company these past weeks. The base colors and shading are done, I'm now onto tidying. That should finish up this week and hopefully I can start on the highlights.

(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MSYk-yWisUk/XxOhC3PdwDI/AAAAAAAAiiU/GLlYAnd_0TEjZ9EqBGofY40ulaE_LkPvgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0146.JPG) (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MSYk-yWisUk/XxOhC3PdwDI/AAAAAAAAiiU/GLlYAnd_0TEjZ9EqBGofY40ulaE_LkPvgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0146.JPG)

The green and tan each get a base, wash, neaten up, and two highlights. The black and metal get a wash and a highlight or two, depending on how they look.

I also painted this guy up over the course of a couple hours this week. He's a battle wizard from my last Kickstarter (http://kickstarter.com/projects/1765086496/10mm-german-landsknecht-offiziersstab-leaders). He's meant to be a gold wizard/alchemist.

Not painting much these days what with the heat, but I did finish tidying up the base colors recently.

(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XTy71O0U5pA/XzanSR2KUbI/AAAAAAAAimw/hTnBpU7qC0oemgT5BcBjN_HoTAAVxn4pACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0152.JPG) (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XTy71O0U5pA/XzanSR2KUbI/AAAAAAAAimw/hTnBpU7qC0oemgT5BcBjN_HoTAAVxn4pACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0152.JPG)

I was getting tired with the lack of perceived progress while painting the entire army though, so switched gears and just started painting the Baneblades. They just need a clear coat and flock at this point. Onto to something else next week.

I finished the Salamander Scouts this week, throwing one on the floor in celebration. After a bit of glue the autocannon was reattached and they were finished, again…

I also painted up one of the Commissar character plugs. I glued a fish eye on his back for a hatch and sculpted the arms. Super close up he looks like he's grinning like crazy.

The Manticores are all finished up. I went with some classic red on the missiles. Just the Stormhammers left, after that I need to figure out if I'm building more guard or painting something else.

The Stormhammers got finished up last night. I ended up adding four more heavy bolters per tank to make them WYSIWYG. They originally had four total in Epic: Raiders and on the model, but a long standing typo for twin heavy bolters was officially adopted this year.

(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q4AmKRebm5g/X6KlJkd1oPI/AAAAAAAAisI/Hg702fQk3j8GZF658yZvxETTqzXjCYBpQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0160.JPG) (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q4AmKRebm5g/X6KlJkd1oPI/AAAAAAAAisI/Hg702fQk3j8GZF658yZvxETTqzXjCYBpQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0160.JPG)

At this point, all of what I've built has been painted. Back to the conversion table next for another handful of tanks.

I started building my next batch of thirty-ish tanks. I plan to finish the last two super-heavies, along with another artillery, Leman Russ and support option again. First up are the Vanquishers, these got elongated barrels. I still have to go back and drill out for the hatch/Commissar plugs.

(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5-VuOtHm3Ts/X669MM4tUKI/AAAAAAAAitA/VuJ4hAOcKKcqx75LaZvYr5qeOy9fENn_gCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0175.JPG) (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5-VuOtHm3Ts/X669MM4tUKI/AAAAAAAAitA/VuJ4hAOcKKcqx75LaZvYr5qeOy9fENn_gCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0175.JPG)

For artillery this time around I went with Bombards. I used chimera chasis hulls instead of the Russ chasis they came with (that's now called a Collussus I think) with the bombard mortar sans shell crane.

(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vWF7lGXv1Ng/X669MEdEo2I/AAAAAAAAitE/8WN3B7UkVk4KR92iTDqRUNV5zyMgsS2RACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0176.JPG) (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vWF7lGXv1Ng/X669MEdEo2I/AAAAAAAAitE/8WN3B7UkVk4KR92iTDqRUNV5zyMgsS2RACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0176.JPG)

The Demolishers got their heavy plasma cannon sponsons, but I'm still thinking on the turrets. A shortened barrel looks a little too "phoned-in". I got to see what else I can come up with here.

Finally, I flocked the Exterminators to see what that's going to look like. This was pretty much what I did for my Knights so I'll likely continue it with this army as they're both Space Marine/Titan Legion era.

Nice 8)

I always though the demolisher turret itself was a bit too long so maybe a normal turret with a demolisher cannon might work?

Thanks guys.

Slow but steady progress on the next batch of tanks. I finished up the Hydra this week. I wasn't a fan of the Space Marine/Titan Legion era Hydra, the autocannons pointing straight up in the air with no means of tracking aircraft seemed pretty dumb to me. This is the conversion I came up with.

(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ejrJHHyT1qk/X76HdgB5EQI/AAAAAAAAiuQ/MZqsiuCosZ4VXsy8m-jLNzdBoHO2EjhxwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0179.JPG) (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ejrJHHyT1qk/X76HdgB5EQI/AAAAAAAAiuQ/MZqsiuCosZ4VXsy8m-jLNzdBoHO2EjhxwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0179.JPG)

I modeled it after the Epic 40k era Hydra, cutting and pinning the autocannons to the side of a Manticore weapon platform with its missiles filed off. I used a plasticard channel to get everything level with the top of the tracks, and a greeble that I cut off of the autocannons onto the back of the chasis. I got the idea from a TacComm post (https://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=19515) some ten years ago.

I also started work on the Stormswords this week. They'll be getting some heavy bolters and flamers next.

I finished the Stormswords the other night. They're Shadowswords with the barrel clipped off with some heavy bolters stuck every which way on it. The heavy flamer is the same conversion I did for the Salamander Command tanks: Squat Trike multi-melta with the barrels carved up.

(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Sh1vdxLccwY/X8ep8HoNIvI/AAAAAAAAivQ/gF4Zp6jO2_ofiycYOmPiRpwvKIP1gFTpACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0182.JPG) (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Sh1vdxLccwY/X8ep8HoNIvI/AAAAAAAAivQ/gF4Zp6jO2_ofiycYOmPiRpwvKIP1gFTpACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0182.JPG)

(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cM8zF3H_d1o/X8ep8Ch1gyI/AAAAAAAAivM/bV73rgcXj6MpNaYQb4u_2cg4WKepvazwwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0183.JPG) (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cM8zF3H_d1o/X8ep8Ch1gyI/AAAAAAAAivM/bV73rgcXj6MpNaYQb4u_2cg4WKepvazwwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0183.JPG)

I also figured out what I'm doing for the Demolisher barrels, they're the shells from the Bombard mortar cranes. Like the Buffalo was to the Cheyenne people, the Bombard is to this army: every part will be used.

(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g6teOcmQEhE/X8ep7-iK32I/AAAAAAAAivI/_eDwa8e_U9oIky4PQRdbsaVuGkxqb5uYQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0184.JPG) (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g6teOcmQEhE/X8ep7-iK32I/AAAAAAAAivI/_eDwa8e_U9oIky4PQRdbsaVuGkxqb5uYQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0184.JPG)

Finally, I started to figure out what I'm going to do for the Stormblades. I thought I had three spare sponsons for the right side, but I haven't been able to find them so I'll need to convert them out of plasticard.

I finished the Demolishers last night, using all size of the shells from the Bombard cutoffs. The fit pretty well after some filing but I still needed to do a little bit of putty work around the turret.

(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-J2QfaKE8xT4/X9DN_wPco2I/AAAAAAAAiwc/s69O6WlJeDUDMM8l05KbdZnN7QR2N4vqwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0186.JPG) (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-J2QfaKE8xT4/X9DN_wPco2I/AAAAAAAAiwc/s69O6WlJeDUDMM8l05KbdZnN7QR2N4vqwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_0186.JPG)

Just the Stormblades are left before I head back to painting, but I need to do a short tangent for a gift this week.

Title: Re: Evil Dave's Epic Imperial Guard - Reinforcements
Post by: Evil Dave on August 06, 2021, 10:57:06 PM
I've been building up some reinforcements for the Imperial Guard Armored Company this past week. I got a bunch of the low hanging fruit (no conversions) as well as a few of the simple conversions built.

(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-344KsqnOU_k/YQ2uR4J4J6I/AAAAAAAAjKU/jymjCwsR2oYJRw-6RbI0y3vcZZlT9iH0wCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0047.JPG) (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-344KsqnOU_k/YQ2uR4J4J6I/AAAAAAAAjKU/jymjCwsR2oYJRw-6RbI0y3vcZZlT9iH0wCLcBGAsYHQ/s0/IMG_0047.JPG)

The Medusae, Griffons and Hellhounds fell into the simple conversions category. The Medusa is just an AT Basilisk gun chopped short, the Griffon an SM/TL basilisk gun chopped short, and the Hellhound some plasticard tanks with SM/TL Hellhound turret.

Thanks guys, ya they're coming along. A few models left to build but nearing completion.

Rich, the Chimeras are stock SM/TL era models. I used the same hull for the Hellhounds. Is that what you're asking?
Title: Re: Evil Dave's Epic Imperial Guard - Reinforcements
Post by: Evil Dave on August 20, 2021, 02:09:04 PM
I think I lost one of the last two weeks, either that or I wasn't very productive. I've been filing and cutting away to convert the last of my Russes. Getting the sponsons off the hull is an utter pain so I think they'll be coming down to the maker space with me to have a meeting with the bandsaw and belt sander.

The Executioner turrets are done, I used an old 40k 2e Chaos Plasma Pistol for the gun. It fits pretty good for the era, I think.

(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KvW_yFtTSPA/YR-mvz1kSDI/AAAAAAAAjPY/ne-sFaMNgxgQWYtdTXdjOdIkBUMoXYthQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_0049.JPG) (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KvW_yFtTSPA/YR-mvz1kSDI/AAAAAAAAjPY/ne-sFaMNgxgQWYtdTXdjOdIkBUMoXYthQCLcBGAsYHQ/s0/IMG_0049.JPG)

The Conquerors turrets are two bits of plasticard and the Stormbolter taken off of the plastic Colossus Robot from the Imperial Guard sprue. Two of the tanks have the plates I'm using to cover the sponson locations, just more plasticard.

Years ago I won some lot that had a load of old decal sheets with heraldy symbols on them. I was hoping to use bull heads but I didn't have enough for all my command vehicles and ended up going with a rampant lion instead. There's also some German vehicle numbers in there from GHQ, so I'm wondering if I should spend the time numbering my Russes now.

They look great - the flags work well. I’ve got some old Bretonian decals that see use in random spots.

Adding numbers - they will look good, I often add them to WWII armour - but up to you if worth the effort

I wanted to have these ready for NEAT next Saturday so I painted up my remaining Commissar markers and a Supreme Commander today after doing the putty work last night. They're all magnetized to be dropped in where they're needed in a given list.

Thanks Fred.

I painted up my Commissar Hellhound to see how the scheme worked on the tanks and turret. Because I didn't have room for a hatch I painted the back of the turret black and red to help differentiate it from the others. I'm hoping to finish the other five and three Stormswords for EpiComp at the end of the year.

Last update for 2020, I finished up the Hellhounds and Stormlords this weekend for EpiComp (https://tacticalwargames.net/epicomp/), so I think I'll head back and try to clear some of my various tangeants for the year off of my painting desk. Then I'll start some more!

Thanks Kelly. Where is your avatar from? It's so familiar.

I can't remember for how long these Marauder Bombers have been sitting on my desk. They were originally slated to be part of the Knight army, but when I rebased those Thunderbolts to pull double duty with the Minervans these came a long for the ride. I've been meaning to finish converting and painting them so this was what I worked on these past two weeks as part of the great desk clean off.

To make them WYSIWYG I added a tail-chaser gun that matched the dorsel gun using a round-ended pin. The lascannons were chopped off of some SM.TL guardsmen and glued to the wings. Nothing fancy on the paint job, just matching what I did seven (!) years ago for the Knight's Thunderbolts.

I started on some Leman Russ and Demolishers for my Epic Armored company last week to bring some new formations to NEAT (or local Epic tournament). At this point the Demolishers just need the highlights on the black, and the Russes need all their highlights. Hoping to finish them up in the next week or two and see about some 15mm Polybian Romans.

I've been painting my Turan Armored Company, on and off, for just just over two years now. With the exception of the Thunderbolts everything in the pictures below was finished in that time, some 5,000+ points. I've still got plenty left: 67 armored vehicles, 3 super-heavies, 40 Chimera and all the infantry I can pack into them. The plan is to keep plugging away until enough complaints have been filed and I move on to another Epic army. In the meantime, on to some 15mm Romans. I'll come back to these later in the year to round out my entries for EpiComp (https://tacticalwargames.net/epicomp/).

Thanks batu.

I haven't gotten around to converting up some actual objectives for my Armored Company, likely because I've just been using these black primed ones from Epic 40k. Given that I've been using like this for two years I figured it was about time I painted them, so I took a few hours last night and painted them up.

I started on the Conquerors tonight too. I'm still hoping to finish these and the Executioners for EpiComp.

Great stuff Dave! Those thunderers are near enough entirely new work at this point!

Thanks YPU.

The Conquerors are finished, short of a top coat and some flocking. I might try to finish up some Executioners or Vultures for EpiComp, not sure yet. Either that or head back to the Romans or something completely different, we'll see where the paint goes.

Nothing new here, just some shots for EpiComp and a look back at 2022 Epic-wise. Not a whole lot of progress but I painted a fair bit of 15mm Americans and Romans last year. Not sure if I'll return to these guys this year. I've still got plenty Imperial Guard left to paint but I may move on to another Epic army for NEAT. We'll see, maybe I'll change my mind and paint some infantry for Steal Legion.

Not IG but Epic anyway.

It's the kiddo's first birthday tomorrow. One *might* be a bit too young for Epic but we're putting together a time capsule for him that he'll open on his eleventh birthday. That seems just about right to start playing, given my experience, so we'll see how he likes this Land Raider then.

Red's a fairly common chapter scheme, so I left iconography off it for now. I was going to do Genesis Chapter but this way he'll have a few more choices.

Very nicely done, and a very cool time capsule present idea! Your painting on the tiny view port lenses is impressive - no way could I do that!

Good to see the IG on parade - I’d missed them at the start of the year.

The time capsule idea is very cool - and I hope you are able to maintain it over the future years - 11 sounds a good age to start to think about gaming, as opposed to toy soldiers!
