Not posted anything for a good few years
Started a bit of a rolling Dark Woods/ Realms of Chaos themed project
Which is randomly evolving as it goes, mainly through raiding the lockdown stash and usual “cut and shut” approach
Anyways, a few random shots...
-
Few more
-
Wonderful work on them all but the sea monster battle is a standout winner for me.
-
Creepy cool 8)
-
Phenomenal work. The sea monster(s) especially.
-
Cracking work!

Yes! More than a touch of the nightmare to these. Very nicely done, if a little disturbing. :)
-
amazing work :o
-
Terrific stuff! That disturbing dryad-serpent is the winner for me, but it's all great!
-
Outstanding atmospheric stuff! :-*
-
You've managed to create a really strong and consistent style to these, which as others have said is definitely nightmarish!
-
Thanks for the positive comments
Was hoping for a “stuff of nightmares” vibe, with an easily reproducible style to manage a whole army
Few of the Rank and File below
Need to come up with a centre piece monster/leader next

Was hoping for a “stuff of nightmares” vibe........
You certainly achieved that.
That last batch are superb re-imaginings of the spirits.
-
these are just amazing; absolutely inspired.
superbly conceived and executed.
-
Freaky!!!!!
I love it all.
-
Absolutely stunning!
-
Words fail me. :-*
-
Stunningly epic artwork!
-
Thanks all for the positive feedback! Really enjoyed this project
Still a few bits to add I think, and hopefully will get to a tabletop at some point...
-
So much wonderful madness.
-
You have created some WONDERFULLY inspiring AND SPLENDIDLY disturbing pieces. OUTSTANDING WORK!
-
Wow, those are absolutely spectacular!
I love how you get so much contrast despite using similar dark colours and all the dioramas just ooze character and style.
-
Very characterful work. Lovely stuff.
-
This is amazing. I'll be following this thread with interest and stealing ideas without shame :)
-
Very cool force. You won't get much gaming done though as everyone will want to look at each of your models. lol
-
Outstanding! These are really distinctive. As others have said, the sea creatures are the standouts, but that's not to diminish how good everything else is!
-
Thank you for sharing this amazing work; very inspiring please keep going! :)
-
I notice just now this tread: really good stuff! In particular I like the composition of some pieces: the lonely warrior next to the tree and the winged demon over the elven statue are ace! Keep on sharing, please.
-
Outstanding, creepy and very single-minded. I love it.
-
Thanks again for the positive comments, have pretty much exhausted my supplies of kit, so need to plan for next bits now
Few ideas kicking around - for centrepiece and large monster
- potentially a “lady of the lake”, and a large daemon or dead dragon
Last few beasts for the menagerie -run out of matt varnish sadly :(
-
Love that old hippogriff. Great model.
-
Wow great project, really creepy
-
Great looking stuff! :-* :-* :-*
-
Very disturbing, but in a good way.
Very neat modelling
-
Absolutely Stunning! Love them all :o :o
Quick question what method are you using for your water?

Quick question what method are you using for your water?
Thanks! Water is done with Artists oils for base- slapped on to give volume and depth of colour, sealed with a layer of gloss varnish and then LOTS of thin! pours of Johnson’s Kleer floor polish, white water/Lilly pads etc added before last few layers,
Looks rubbish, really rubbish,
until you get the volume of layers on top
Quick and easy to do- but takes a lot of drying time and faith before you get to the end
I’m sure resin would work better but stick with what I know
-
I do not want to meet the lady of this monstrous host. Just to watch her from a safe distance. All the creatures look suitable horrifying!
-
I just saw this thread.
Amazing work! Far beyond anything I've done. I'm jealous!
Love the water effect, I'll have to try your recipe.
-
I love the way you made the Slaaneshi daemon on the last page look somehow more bestial and more realistic through the muted paintjob, which makes it look even weirder/more uncomfortable.
Great thread.
-
Very impressed with this thread! Well done.

Missed this set of posts up until now, but gorgeous creey nightmare figures.
Looks like most of the smaller figures are mixes of GW plastics, Sylvaneth dryad/tree things and some of the more recent ghosts/spirits/ghasts/etc?

Thanks
And yes mostly based on dryads and a large supply of the cheapish chain rasp/ghosty types from the newsagents reject pile
