So I ummed and ahhed for ages until watching the GMG Elder Scrolls delve playthroughs broke my resolve so I picked up the new Elder Scrolls game core set and Barrow Deep miniatures. I'd not intended to buy into this game even though I'm a huge fan of the computer games.
For those of you who may not be aware of what the Elder Scrolls is. They are a series of 5 computer rpgs (I'm only counting the main games here) set in the world of Tamriel, which is a fairly standard High fantasy world (although with its own peculiarities) produced by Bethesda who also make the Fallout games. Modiphius, who also make a tabletop Fallout game, have just come out with this game, initially set in the Skyrim part of the world from the last computer game.
The game has a PvP mode and a Solo/Co-op 'Delve' mode, which is going to be the main focus for me. The game has a fairly sophisticated AI mode for the various creatures and adversaries you meet on your adventures and the core set comes with the various exploration and item card decks you need to undertake these.
I haven't tried the game out yet but I have painted the models, and a couple of stand ins as adventuring companions for my Dragonborne. The core set has a bunch of cards for the hero's and monsters in the included Barrow Deep delve so there is no need to get the official models (my original plan, since fallen by the wayside). From a read through the game seems to be trying hard to feel familiar to players of the computer games and I'm looking forward to seeing how much this has been accomplished.
A note on the miniatures. I got the plastic set (they also come in resin) and they made from nice plastic and are suitably detailed. The Dragonborn was a bit of a pig to build (a single plastic 32mm model shouldn't come in 11 pieces if you ask me) but the others were a lot more straightforward. They were also nice and easy to paint.

I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I...
No, no, no, no! Not doing it! ;)
Cool! Wouldn't mind playing this, and maybe even giving the figures a go. Have a soft spot for the Elder Scrolls going back several games.

Definite modelling opportunity there!
I'm looking forward to seeing what they do when they move beyond Skyrim. I think one of the forthcoming mercenary sets has Khajit and Argonians and I'm very keen to see what they do when they look at Morrowind in particular .

yes, fertile territory for some great miniatures.
your figs above, looking good - although '11 pieces' ... ?

12 with the shield!
It was incredibly frustrating to build. Have you ever built any Malifaux plastic miniatures? The same fiddliness.

Now that is just effing ridiculous! lol
I think I've changed my mind about getting any of these figures.

Wow! That is a lot of gluing for one little figure!

crikey, yes, have to say I'm staggered by that.
I have enough trouble with 'normal' plastic figs.

I've also ordered the Stormcloak and Imperial boxes but I've ordered the resin figures to see what they are like. I will report back.
I have to say the other models in the set weren't as bad as that one. But that was a little ridiculous. I also dropped the face (a seperate face!) under my table and had to spend half an hour looking for it

Excellent work painting these up!
I also pre-ordered everything. TBH I don’t think the figures are all that great. The proportions seem really odd. But I am a TES fan going back to Morrowind and the idea of an official TES minis game is a long-cherished dream.
Still, let’s hope Modiphius gets a bit better at sculpting ...

I was tempted with Skyrim but I bought into the Fallout game and it put me off. There is a shit load of tokens you have to keep track of, Its an incredibly crunchy game system. Its certainly not fast (although if you played enough it would get faster I'm sure)
Is the Skyrim game token heavy?
Edit: Nice painting! 11 pieces for a 28mm figure!!

@Manchu- I do agree about the sculpting, they are nice enough but slightly.... Off.... In dimensions! Which was strangely what put me off Fallout but TES setting was enough to get me to jump in.
@Steders. There are quite a lot of tokens. Apparently ithe fallout rules have been streamlined somewhat for this one, but crunchy still looks an apt description. You get two of these sheets in the core box (although they are identical) and with the character and faction cards and all the upgrades there seems a fair bit of book keeping - I think the figure count is kept low for this reason!

Just got the game bundle on order.
The next releases look good.
