Title: Trees from Woodland Scenincs
Post by: crancko on 20 March 2007, 02:31:03 PM
¿Anyone uses the trees from Woodland Scenics?

I am looking for a picture with comparison of a 28mm miniature and a tree from the range of 2'' to 5''.

Thanks in advanced.

Crancko,

I have used them in the past with Model Railroading as well as just recently for a LotR game I ran. I bought the 2"- 5" pack of trees & they work very well. Of course I have not put any flok on them yet, since I used them as dead trees for a Mordor board we used in our game.

Here is the link to a picture of one on my Blog, http://bp1.blogger.com/_D5AabrxQmSw/RdFKJFtSSxI/AAAAAAAAAKA/TszdoT4sZ64/s1600-h/DSC00372.JPG

Hope this works...

Thanks for your reply. How many bags of clump-foliage do I have to buy for these trees:

1 bag of trees 2''-3'' (53)
1 bag of trees 3''-5'' (23)

Thanks again.

I would suggest buying the trees pre-flocked. The cost is a bit higher, but the assembly time is dramatically reduced. And you get playing that much faster.

I use the Woodland Scenics trees exclusively on my game table and they hold up fairly well and they look very nice as well.

The only problem that I have found with them is that sometimes the pins in the base of the trunk break off and the treek will no longer attach to its base. The pins can be replaced with any thick metal pin or finishing nail cut down to size.

Sure but the cost is higher and the damage when transport overseas could damage them...

What size do you use?

I use the a couple of sizes, depending on scale. For Micro-armour, the 3/4" are ideal. For 15mm, the 2-3" works very well and also doubles for the 25-28mm scales.

I don't have much by way of the 3-5" - I find those are a little too big.

I picked the Woodland Scenics value packs, which are packaged in clear, hard plastic cases. The trees are indestructible enough as is, and the hard plastic case should mean that they should ship anywhere without fear of damage.

You can see some of the trees in the background here with my 15mm QRF Ratels:
