Title: Empress WW1/Interwar Second Model T Ford released.
Post by: Paul @ Empress Miniatures on 17 July 2020, 08:49:33 AM
We have a long awaited WW1/Jazz Age release.
Model T Fords in their Australian/British Reconnaissance guise used against Turkish forces into the 1920's. Perfect for Dunster Force scenarios in 1918.

This version is the full body version and currently comes with two crew options although stay tuned as there are two more crew being moulded as we speak. The vehicle comes with some spare kit such as Lewis gun and gun mounts, rifle in holster and extra grip front tyres that can be added to the outside of the usual front wheels.

The model is all pewter and can be purchased as sets with the vehicle and crew OR the vehicle only OR the crew sets only.
The crew sets are useful for other vehicles.

There will be another version of the vehicle which will be the open, body section removed to help keep the engine cool.  This will be released shorty.

Mark Hargreaves painted one of the vehicles with crew option 2 just before lock down.

You can find these vehicles in the Interwar Vehicle section of the Jazz Age room.

That is a thing of beauty. Don't really have a project that needs one of these, but man, do I want one anyway. My grandad was a Model T nut. He had loads of them over the years. If he had had one with a Lewis gun mount I don't think Primary School Plynkes would have ever stopped playing on it.

No one, as far as I know! Maybe with the forthcoming Osprey book on the Italian-Ottoman war we may get some?

Awesome something to add to add to my Dunsterforce.

That's just what I was thinking but then I haven't bought the Setting the East Ablaze Dunsterforce supplement as of yet......  :) Something I need top get around to doing ASAP!!

I've got the Mad Mullah supplement but haven't had time to read through it- I did of course start gawping at the pics  :-*

Does anyone know if the Brits use Model T Fords's in the Horn of Africa? I need a good excuse!

Paul,

Excellent minis, and can't wait to purchase a bunch of them from your US guy.

One suggestion, to have a option (separate pack) of a Vickers MG on tripod mount for the rear, so these can also be used for the later version  for some of the Light Patrol Cars. Will work nicely against the Senussi in Egypt (an upcoming STEA scenario book by yours truly  ;).

Regards,
Bob

Model T's were absolutely ubiquitous in the early 20's, so I don't think you need an excuse of any sort to sneak one in. It'd hardly be grossly ahistorical. ;)

The Vickers team will be released in a few days. It fits into the rear of the cut down Model T that we will also release. It is designed to work on the rear of the vehicle and also be taken out with the team and ground mounted. The Empress Rolls Royce AC kit also comes with the ability to dismount the Vickers as that was quite a common usage.

You can't have too many shoes, hats and Model Ts with a Lewis mount.

Fab!

And, might I also suggest, a separate pack of gear/supplies that could go in the back of one of the Model T's, as each of the separate patrols had one of the six Model T's in the patrol as a repair car (i.e., like a tender). Just a thought.

P.S. Iraqi Rebellion? Oh, that's on my "to do" for a scenario book list for STEA. First, getting the Senussi Campaign to print, then on to Archangel, and then Iraq 1920. ;-)

We have just released the cut down version of the Model T Ford used by the British and Australian army in WW1.

We have also released another crew pack that fits in this vehicle which is the Vickers crew. This crew can be used in the vehicle as well as dismounting and firing off the vehicle.

We have also released the other crew packs at a discounted price for the vehicle and crew.
Hopefully that makes sense, if not check the site and it should all become clear.

Very nicely done Paul.
It's definitely the more characterful of the two. There's some lovely movement in the figures.Theres a little artistic license in the actions of the figures. Which is part of the joy of the sculpts.(Not a criticism just a layer of khaki still floating around my bonce after all these years. )
I don't honestly have much time to even paint the  stuff I make.
However this has been sent to all my offspring with the attached note.' If your stuck for what to get your old man for Christmas.'

Mark.

A bit late to the party here, but are these 1/50 scale or 1/56?

[Edit] I might have found the answer here:
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=123074.msg1547236#msg1547236 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=123074.msg1547236#msg1547236)

If so, then 1/56.

Thus reinforcing the established wargaming rule and great scale watershed of 1956. All vehicles before 1956 are 1/56, everything after is 1/50.*

* Unless it isn’t. Your mileage may vary and objects may appear closer than they actually are.  :D
