Hello all,
I am working on my first classical ancient armies with Persians, Greeks, Thracians and Indians and am wondering about how compatible old glory figures would be to incorporate into what I have already. I have Victrix, Footsore, Warlord and Aventine and they all seem to mix well. I bought some old Hinchliffe and minifiges to see if they would fit and they are way too small, so now I am hesitant to buy anything labeled as 25mm. Additionally, I really like some of 1st Corps stuff, but they also seem to be small. If anyone has experience with the ranges, or even comparison pictures, that would be so helpful!
In an inverse problem, I've heard that Vendel's are too big. I wanted some of their Egyptian Marines as I don't think anyone else has good models for them.
Thanks,
Daniel

1st Corps are very nice sculpts and nic Ely animated. They are slightly shorter than the other types you mention but the style and heft of the figures means that they fit in very well.

Old Glory will undoubtedly be too small to fit in. However, you should write and ask for a sample figureso you can check for yourself.
You may be able to get away with cavalry and elephants.

I'll second that 1st corps look really nice. I haven't painted mine yet, but still. They are indeed a little on the stocky side, but not noticeably shrunken down like a lot of old 25s look, if you know what I mean. Maybe I can take some comparison photos tomorrow.

The Hinchliffe and Minifigs ranges date back to the 1970s/80s when 25mm really meant 25mm. They will be way too small plus missing a lot of the detail of more recent sculpts. 1st Corps are more on the 25mm end of the market. I wouldn't mix them in the same unit as the other 28mm ranges but they should look OK in separate units. From what I recall Vendel are pretty bug and chunky. Nice but quite distinctive.

Hey, if you’re looking for Persians there are Wargames Atlantic.
There are also the Wargames Factory Persians if you can find them.
-
I have both! I forgot to include them in the list somehow, which is strange given that I have 160 minis of them combined.

If anyone has comparison images, or just better pictures than are on Old Glory, I would love to see them. I went ahead and just ordered one pack to see for myself how they stack up.

Here are some comparison scale images, and images of Old Glory 25mm figures. Old Glory are smaller than Victrix.

One more:
Newline and Old Glory cavalry with Casting Room leader.

Those are awesome pictures, thank you!
I have put pennies under Old Glory to raise them up that little bit to help them to fit in with other miniatures. It helps.
If you are getting Victrix Persian cavalry in the future, and they are anything like their others (besides the Numidians) they will appear as giants next to Old Glory cavalry! (Kind of like how the Persian king was represented in the movie '300' ...)

Victrix cavalry are out of scale with Victrix foot in most cases. The horses are very large for ancient horses as well. Other than that they are nice when completed. But I find they fit more with Vendel than others- especially if the Vendels are on larger horses themselves such as Crusader horses.
Here a Victrix matches up well with a Casting Room Persian- which are also jumbo 28mm figures.
