A solo (the ultimate social distance) game test of In Deo Veritas can be found here https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/07/in-deo-veritas-game-test-boldon-hill.html (https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/07/in-deo-veritas-game-test-boldon-hill.html)
It was a wild game, with undisciplined pursuit and all manner of chaos.
In a campaign game, I'd avoid battles unless the odds were heavily in my favor and instead seek sieges and small actions...

Thanks for the run through, I enjoyed the explanatory additions to the photographs, cheers.

Very nice battle report; thanks. :) I'll second the praise for the explanatory bits to the photos. Short and informative. Looking forward to see where your project goes next!

I'm still struggling with everything being different in Windows 10. If you look at some of my earlier AARs you'll see I had a better handle on photo editing in Windows 7. Oh well, Covid, economic crash, hurricanes, civil strife, support for Windows 7 dropped, waiting for the locusts and flies... ;)

Yep, it's not great but you'll get used to it sort of.
Good report, thanks.

The Scots struck back. Another take on the 1644 battle and those rules can be found here. https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/08/in-deo-veritas-test-bolden-hill-ii.html (https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/08/in-deo-veritas-test-bolden-hill-ii.html)

Not ready to play yet but I've re-read Tilly's Very Bad Day and see some obvious differences in the rules.
In Deo Veritas (IDV) has dice rolled for combat and saves always 'hit' on 4+. What gets modified is the number of dice thrown. Single dice are rolled for disorder, cohesion and army will tests and these have modifiers. Tilly's Very Dad Day (TVBD) use resolve dice. Each unit starts with a certain resolve. Ordinary pike and shot units have a resolve of 4, for instance. Whenever units roll for combat or anything else, they roll one die for each remaining resolve point. When resolve is down to zero, the unit routs. Lost resolve can be restored by routing enemy units or by generals rallying the troops. TVBD has a one page QRS, with examples of play on the other side. There are basic rules and many advanced rules. I will use one advanced rule to show troop ratings since both sides have some green units. Otherwise it will be the basic rules alone.
There is an advanced pursuit rule, very draconian. If your command (advanced rule) breaks an enemy command, it may pursue. If it does, the victorious command pursues off table and does not return. But at least it doesn't count against army morale.

Had a very short, brutal and decisive test game of this battle using Tilly's Very Bad Day. Details can be found here https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/08/tillys-very-bad-day-bolden-hill-iii.html (https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/08/tillys-very-bad-day-bolden-hill-iii.html)

Interesting, interesting, interesting indeed! Thanks for sharing. I'll have to give Tilly's Very Bad Day a whirl some time. I suspected it being a swift game, but your report makes it look rather outstanding in that regard. :D
