Greetings! First post here to share my new found addiction to 15mm ;D
I plan to do a full army of pseudo GDI troops from Tiberian Sun, alongside sceneries scaled accordingly.
First results so far:

Hope you like it ;)

Great colour scheme and paintjob on these NSL troopers! 15mm ftw! :-*
-
Oh yes! I do like this. It’s pretty good and GDI/NOD is an interesting scenario.
-
Thanks for the comments! Yes, NOD is probably next on the schedule with ORC troopers from GZG painted in black/red scheme.
Though I am tempted to buy every robot around and make a Z theme army (the old RTS video game that kept trash talking you during missions lol ).
15mm surely is exhilarating!
-
Excellent paint work and choice of colors! I am very interested in see what you do for the NOD!
Where did you get the buildings from?
I use to spend hours playing Tiberian Sun< I really like to see what you come up for all the rest of that game like refinery, harvesters and a like.
-
WOW! Fantastic paint work.
-

Thank you for your comment! The buildings are an MDF kit designed by Red Vectors and sold by Minibits.
-
Most excellent!
-
Like I said on instagram, love these they look fantastic!

Wow, the GZG shipping charges for the US have spiked considerably from the last time I ordered.

UK to USA shipping charges (vis the Royal Mail) have shot up very recently. It will be accross the board, no matter where you buy from in the UK. All I'd suggest is look at how much you have to spend before some sellers offer free postage... it may be REALLY worth it now :) .

Dan
Did you look at the GZG homepage?
There are two news posts that explain.
As at 1/7:
IMPORTANT - SHIPPING TO USA, all US customers please read!
As of today (Wednesday 1st July), there has been a very large increase in the prices that the USPS charges for some package deliveries, and therefore the prices that I am charged by Royal Mail have also increased significantly. These changes (which are, of course, completely outside my control) are very complicated, and affect certain services and weights of packets much more than others - I need some time to work out all the ramifications of the changes, and to figure out a charging structure that is fair to everyone, but in the meantime I have had to put in place an emergency rate that I hope will cover most cases.
THIS MEANS THAT MANY USA ORDERS, ESPECIALLY SMALLER ONES, WILL SHOW A MUCH INCREASED SHIPPING CHARGE AT THE MOMENT - BUT if the actual cost of shipping and packing works out to be lower then I will REFUND any significant excess via Paypal after the packet is shipped, as I already do for larger orders.
These cost changes will most likely mean that more US orders will become more economical to ship via FedEx than by normal post, so I expect to be using FedEx shipping much more, especially on medium to large orders - this does have the advantage of being very much faster and more efficient.
I will post more info here as and when I work out more of the details of the new charge rates - in the meantime, if you have any questions feel free to email me (Jon) via the "contact" section.
As at 26/7:
Now that almost a month has gone by since the big US postal cost increases, I thought that I had better update everyone on the situation; I've been trialling some new ultra-flat packing boxes that are within the dimensions for the "Large Letter" rates, which are much cheaper than the new Packet rates to the US. I will be able to use this packaging for many small to medium US orders, and where I can do so the shipping rates will be much more reasonable. For the moment I am going to leave the store rates set as they are, but in MOST cases I will be able to REFUND a significant proportion of the charges on smaller orders, while larger ones will be shipped by FedEx or similar courier. I will update the information when I can, but for the moment please don't panic about the size of the shipping cost on smaller US orders - feel free to email and ask if want any further information.

Great stuff 8)

Excellent stuff. :D I really like that yellow you went for.

Another 15mm piece of scenery done!
MDF kit from Warbases. I litteraly smashed the damn thing with a hammer.

Edit: wrong link

Progress has been made on the scenery side. I will invest in another pack of those Red Vectors buildings to create some more volume and density (some can actually stack on top of others), but I am pretty happy with the results so far 🙂

They have come out very nicely.
-
Looking great man, you're gonna make me pick up a couple of packs of those colony container buildings if you post agan!
-
Your gaming table looks great and a fantastic job with those buildings too!
-
Thank you all for your comments!
As far as rule sets go, how would you rate Alien Squad Leader? I know the basing I chose is not fitting (but other projects might ;) ).
-
you take great photos of your stuff as well
-
Yeah man, that table looks great!
-
Looking superb! :o
What do you use to take the photos btw?
-
Thanks!
Another stand ready for the fight!

Concerning the pictures: I use the camera of my Samsung Galaxy S7. Those taken with the black background look like that from afar (excuse the mess lol )
Two photo studio light bulbs bought for 20 euros on Amazon, two Ikea desk lamps and a black sheet of Canson drawing paper. Simple as that!

I’m not a big fan of black backgrounds, as they seem to blur the outline of figures. I’d rather see the figures on white.
That said, I’m in awe of the detail on the figures and of your ability to bring it all to life. Great job!

Such a kind request cannot be left unanswered ;)

Not a lot more, but a little WIP on a little green man (miniature from the Critical Mass line).
I am super tempted to do a full army of single based alien where no two miniatures would be the same. Usable for both element based systems with appropriate trays or skirmish rule sets. 15mm sure is limitless!
-
Cordial
Wow, hard to believe but those with the white background look even better!
Dan
PS. If you are looking to paint one-ofs, then these might be of interest:

Thanks!
Nice find on those starport scums. Between the mercenaries from Critical Mass, the Khurasan Jasmin Throne line and a few things here and there I should be set!
-
The Remorseless Crusader and Space Worm Bob are joining the fight lol

Lol. I can imagine some of the nicknames that wrinkly fellow might get from his rivals. :)
Dan
-
Wow! the paint work on those guys is Great!

Thanks!
Three more "celebrities" are joining the gang. From left to right, the Gloom Guy, Yodu and Ultraman lol

The painting skill with such small figures is amazing :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
I have these figures somewhere but I won't be digging them out anytime soon for you to show mine up

Loving the updates on this Plog so far, couple of questions where are those crates from and what kind of basing material are you using on your merc crew?

Glad you like them!
To answer your questions:
- crates are from Zen Terrain. I cannot honestly say they are the greatest. Cheap as chips but the thin card parts tend to tear when you bend them in three (they form the outer texture of the otherwise MDF crates) and all you have in hands are pieces of worthless thick paper. I dug up that old pack from a previous shopping spree years ago, maybe they got better. I like those I was able to build properly though.
- Basing material: bases are 2mm thick 15mm circular bases. Laser cut in MDF by Battlefield Factory, a french company who even integrates the magnets in the bases for you! Texture is done with a mix of sand and cork "rocks" from Army Painter. For the painting: mournfang brown base from Citadel followed by a dry application of Mig Primer Red pigment, followed by a lighter application of Mig Light Rust pigment. Sealed the whole thing with Essence F and did a light drybrush of citadel Jokaero Orange. Pretty much the basing recipe for all my bases, I just change de colors depending on the setting.

Hope that helps!

The hab units actually remind me a lot of the “rounded” buildings in the animated film “Planet 51”. The end results looks awesome.

It's a bird? It's a plane? It's a 15mm demo board!
Done in an afternoon. I'll probably make three more as I had four 45x45cm MDF panels cut to fuel my addiction lol
A city tile, a fallouty post nuke desert and something else that has yet to be determined (I am open to suggestions!).
-
Oooooooo, now THAT’S what I call eye candy!
Dan
-
Not a lot of new stuff as I navigate between 28, 15 and 6mm lol
I was toying with the idea of using my single based minis in element based games. Alien Squad Leader came to mind so here we go :)

Astonishingly good! Is that a 60mm sabot?
I got a whole load of sabots for ASL a few years ago, but have never played it. This some real inspiration to get cracking on 15mm again!

Thanks! It's a 50mmx50mm base made of two layers of mdf, the top one being cut with six holes to fit the 15mm circular bases of my dudes!
-
Aha - got it! The 15mm bases were throwing me off (mine are based on pennies, so I only manage three or four to a sabot).
They're all fantastic, but the worm guy is just marvellous!

Cordial
Thanks to you, I’ve just ordered aliens from RPE, Brigade and others. Keep on inspiring us!
Dan
-
I'm gonna ask them my share lol
Vehicles incoming for both armies and sceneries :)

Three more guys are reporting for duty: Vosk the Bounty Hunter, an imperial Tempest Trooper and Dick Tracer (he had a rough childhood). And a bonus familly picture!

Really good looking paintjobs there.
