Very nice. I love the rich skin tone on the Indians.

From what I can see they look good, but the photos are a bit dark.

Very nice. Highlighting with paints is really worth the effort.
The pics are indeed a bit dark - that adds to the "tanning" of your Natives, which doesn't seem that strong on the first pictures. From what I can tell, historical accuracy is fine. Personally, after seeing some reenactors lately, I would definetely go for extensive war painting. That looks just awesome. Here's what I mean:

These chaps also told me that Woodland Indians used a lot of red, brown, yellow and black dyes for their clothing, whereas green and blue only occasionally since it was limited to trading with the Europeans.

Apart from that, what about adding some brushwood and leaves to the bases? Dried parsley works very well, especially for 'autumn-themed' bases. Feel free to take a look at my versions (not the best of all photographers myself): LINK (http://lead-mountain.blogspot.com/search/label/French-Indian%20War)

Anyway, looking forward to your next miniatures. FIW is such a cool project. :)

Yes, war paint really help the war parties pop out on the table. Some of my favorite figures in my personal collection have striking red and black patterns.

Eris Roof has a nice tutorial (by Chris peers IIRC) posted on his site: http://www.conquestminiatures.com/hobbyarticles.htm (http://www.conquestminiatures.com/hobbyarticles.htm)

Very nice. Your buckskin color is very well done. If you want to get fancy down the line you can try some beadwork on the bags, legging ties, etc. Honestly I rarely get that bold myself, even if Eric Roof makes it look like a piece of cake. When I do feel like tackling it I glance at this site for inspiration: http://www.wanuken.com/ (http://www.wanuken.com/).

There are some active F&I re-enactment groups scattered around the country. I am fortunate living in Western PA as we have several sites that attract them like the Bushy Run battlefield:

and Fort Ligonier

I have seen photos of F&I reenactors in the UK, Germany, the Czech Republic, and even Finland!

You wouldnt want to be an indian re-enactor in the UK knowing our summers unless you can withstand the cold ;D

I think they wait for the warmest day of the year and then re-enact the "Battle on Snowshoes" battle on snowshoes (http://battle on snowshoes)  lol

I'm jealous of you Americans - so many 18th century reenactors in just ONE group. In Germany one can be happy to see 30 men (and women) forming one battalion. Of course, they are originally from 10 to 15 different units. ;D
On the other hand it seems we have hard-bitten chaps here - cold summer round here, but nothing to scare the "Natives" I pictured above...

Oops, sorry for OT.

Re size comparison query, Adster did this pic a while back:

There are pics of Galloping Major Mohawk and Redoubt Woodland Indians together on the Gallery page.

Great pic Lowtardog, amply demonstrates tribal preferences for particular colours of warpaint.

One other question for you.... are the Canadian Militia from the same stature dollies as the Mohawk? ..... am just trying to get a handle on how they'd compare sizewise as well as my French are presently somewhat deficient.

Yes, we're keeping the stature pretty constant.
We'll be releasing French rugulars later (along with everything for the period).

I'm about to put up a painting guide for Canadian Militia this weekend, if you're interested I put up a few concept sketches for our first rangers on the Studio page recently.

Great .... I'll order some!
The scotch bonnet is a very welcome addition.

Thanks  :D
Glad you like the sketches - The intention is for the first couple of packs of Rangers to be one pack wearing caps, the other in bonnets, to allow you to control the mix in your units. After that they'll probably be more of a mix.

Canadian Militia painting guide now up.

Galloping Major will you be releasing the Hurons before you do the Rangers?

"Galloping Major will you be releasing the Hurons before you do the Rangers?"

Yes indeed  :D
(I know you've been waiting for these, still working on the last few greens for the first 3 packs)
