Title: RKKA branch distinctions 1935-1943
Post by: DonFabrizio on 17 September 2020, 04:15:23 PM
Dear all,

I know the basics of RKKA branch distinctions, but have a few specific questions.
Would small sub-units of an infantry division have the crimson distinction of the infantry branch (on caps, Boudionovaka's, shirt colars and greatcoats), or something else?

So:
-would the infantry regiments's horse mounted reconnaissance platoon have infantry crimson edged black, or cavalry blue edged black?

-would the artillerymen within the infantry regiments and battalions have infantry crimson edged black, or artillery black edged red?

-would the pioneers at divisional, regimental and battalion level hve infantry crimson edged black, black edged black, or black edged blue?

Thanks in advance!

Regimental units will have an infantry color (but the emblems of a kind of troops). Units of divisional subordination will have the color of a kind of troops.
But in technical units (artillery, sappers) this rule was often violated. They turned a blind eye to it.

Always happy to help! Feel free to ask. If I don't know something, I'll look in the Russian segment of the Internet.
