Here are two pictures of some Deep One Hybrids I sculpted recently. I'd be interested to know what people think. I might look into getting them cast at some point, or selling the greens if a company is interested in casting them.
cheers..

:o I would buy those. 8)
-
Oh yes...OH YES!!!! I will buy these for sure. Fantastic sculpts!!!
:-* :-*
-
Not what I am currently in the market for but they are brilliant! Just the way *I* picture them!
-
Yes, I would buy them too...
-
These are stunning, you've got to get them cast one way or another! :-*
-
Those are very nice greens. :o
I am afraid the subject is of no use to me but I am sure loads of people here would love them.
You really need to get someone to cast them.
-
PM sent, I'd like to buy the greens.
-Alex Bates
-Forge of Ice
-
The BPRD would like to fight these, please. :-*
-
If you don't sell the greens to Alex, I would also buy them! They are very nice!!!
-
Yowee, those are STRAIGHT out of my nighmares.
I MUST have them.
Please, please sculpt more poses !
Chick
-
Dimly terrible! ;D
-
Very nicely sculpted. Just the thing for Strange Aeons, don't you think Uncle Mike. ;)
-
I ahve to concur that these would go into my purchase asap pool.
-
Must buy...beautiful sculpts... ;D
-
Will throw our hat into the interest pool, would be interested in buying the greens or producing these under license as we do with little green man and doppalganger usa.
We have sent a pm a couple of hours ago, but as others have done this via the news item we have done the same :D
Thanks and great sculpts
Ben
-
BRILLIANT!!! :-*
these models are exactly what I need for my display project!
so... when can I order them? and from who? ;D
-
"Who" is going to be interesting? Multiple PMs sent to Blackstone already. It will be interesting to see who comes out with the sculpts.
-
hmmm... maybe I'll add my PM to the pile too? ;D
-
They have that 'innsmouth look' for sure!
I want these.
Anybody casting yet?????

Really hope you guys get it!
-
Thanks everyone for all the comments. Really pleased with how they've been received. I do have more planned too.. :)
Here's a scale comparison as requested. I'll be able to take some better pictures tomorrow. I've placed the greens on bases to try and get the feet all on the same level. They're next to some Cold War zombies and Artizan Thrilling tales figures....
I'll reply to all the PM's shortly..
-
Very nice greens would fit very well in the game, best of luck in getting some one to manufacture them for you.
-
there is no way I have to get them if you find a producer .
PLEASE let us know when you find someone or when they are on the market .
I must return to Innsmouth ;)

Hell yeah!!!!
(oh no not another genre to start collecting, oops!).
Whoever gets them , (and I hope it's Jo and Ben etc... at Blackcat) add slotta tags to the minis not nasty solid bases that have to be cut away. Keeps everyone happy then as you want to coin mount? Just cut the tag off, much easier that cutting a integral base.
Simples! :D

Please speak for yourself. I, for one, prefer the current bases.

ditto, the current bases can fit on anything.

You'll still have to hack em about Bungle, at least with a tab you can remove it cleanly if you want to coin mount as already said.

And don't be so rude my american friend! ;) Isn't freedom of speech one of your constitutional whatsit's?

What can't they fit on?
-
What can't they fit on?
They can, but not flush, you have to hack away at the bases if you don't like a lump in the middle of your slotta (oooo err) or if like me you use a lot of resin scenic bases.
Less hassle with a tab and if the plastic base phobics don't like it then it's much easier for them to remove and base on a coin, washer or beermat as they see fit.
At the end of the day I really don't give a flying F :-X K as long as they are cast!
;)
-
Personal preferences.
I like gaming with my figures, and a join over the largest area possible between the figure and base gives the strongest join. Which allows for the roughest accidental handling.
soles of feet to a penny just doesn't hold well enough, which is why I hate tabs, you end up having to use plastic podiums for the figures to stand on or faff around trimming and filing and gluing to only get a poor hold to the base.
Resin display bases are not as strong for gaming either as a base or the hold to the figure.
But they can look very pretty... so its a choice between practicality for gaming, and ease of conversion for the resin base user.... one of many different types of base... resin/displaybase, slotta, washer or penny, square of plasticard to name a few. The only type that it is harder to use on is the resin/display type...
don't you always flock your slottas?... a good thin base isn't noticable under flock
-
I pefare flat bases as I solder my figures to ether a penny or two pence peace, but if they sloted just need cut slot of and still solder there tiny feet to a penny or even to a brass washer give them hieght then to a penny, all that said only if they are made out of pewter
-
To mirror everyone one else, I would love to get my hands on some casted figures :D. They are just perfect, not too fishy, not too mannish :).
-
Working up some 'Hybrid' rules for Strange Aeons...regardless of who gets to cast 'em. Great figures...especially the little girl! :-*
-
And don't be so rude my american friend! ;) Isn't freedom of speech one of your constitutional whatsit's?
I encourage you to express your opinion. What I was objecting to was your seeming suggestion that everyone shares it. In fact, slotta bases do not "keep everyone happy". They make me, for one, very sad. :(
Sorry for my apparent rudeness though. :)
-
are you casting yet? ;D
;)
-

my words exactly. These should look great with the new Black Cat Deep Ones - and from what I understood, there should be more of those coming out too :)

No I was just expressing my opinion, but....awwww that's ok I love you too!
:D
To keep everyone happy the frother's figure sculpting comp packs that have slottas also come with little mini metal bases that give the appearance of a solid base.
Maybe the source of those could be located?

True mate very true, I use jed's urban bases and Ian's bases and toppers for gaming no issue so far.
With regards to gravelling or flock bases I just don't like the 'hump' it gives and it gives me the hump! :D
I have recently tended to cut the solids off if it looks like its able to be done without damaging the mini, and on other stuff (TAG and Copplestone) I've actually countersunk the solid base into the slotta, that looks great too.
Anyway all we all want is them cast up so we're all agreed on one thing.
Cheers mate

-
I'd like a set of these too :)
As far as bases go, I agree with Bungle, small integral bases are best for me so feel free to keep the greens as they are. Oh, and could you sell them to Black Cat as they're nearer and will keep my postage rates down.
Oh, and er, make more, lots more :D

Careful, you know where opinions will get you...
;)
(Yeah I went for Blackcat as a UK company, suits their ranges and as they're not a bad bunch either!).

Thanks for posting the pictures with the additional figures for scale reference, and for myself, I prefer the small integral bases to slottabases.

Eureka does that. I never use them, too small methinks.

any news about castings today? :D

I can't say anything about casting at the moment. I am working on some more figures though...
Anyways here's a picture of some small scenery pieces I sculpted a while back, to go with the figures.
Thanks for looking!

Love the little scenery pieces, they match up perfectly.

NICE!!!! A lickle cuddle Cthulhu on a plith.
;)
MORE I say MORE!!!
Things I'd like to see:
Hybrid 'doctor' thick rimmed round specs making the eyes look even more bulbous.
More hunchback styled hybrids under heavy coats.
maybe a pure breed hidden beneath ragged clothes?
A few zombie ones would be a giggle too, (re-animated).
Maybe one with a fedora, leather jacket and whip, about to swop the little statue for a bag of sand :D
Some elder signs carved on a wooden signpost: (kinda like the wonky signs you see in hick'sville)
-
Damn, they are very frothy - I could be seriously tempted to branch out into another "little" project, that would inevitably grow as quickly as that ickle cthulhu.... lol
-
Excellent stuff!
-
So again I ask, who's ended up with em!!!!
:D
-
yup, enquiring minds (what's left of them) want to know.

jim

This is killing me....who has got 'em??????
-
They have a great DAGON movie look to them.
Great stuff,
Brian

As one of those who sent a PM to Iain, I can tell you that he is mulling his options at the moment. This is according to an e-mail he sent me. He said he hopes to make a decision next week.
I guess we'll all have to be patient.
-
:-* Those hybrids do look good… so to speak ::)
-
Yes, there has been some mulling this weekend. However a decision has been made, there could be some news soon..... cheers :)
-
*fingers crossed*
-
Oohh I really need some of those :-*
Anders
-
I just found out who got them....
-
:D
Yep, Brigade Games will be producing them for the .45 Adventure line. Once I have more details on release, I will absolutely post the information.
-
cool operator5,
congrats on nabbing a quality line to add to your others,
now get them cast up please......

Good luck, have to admit though I was looking forward to a UK company getting these.
Prehaps the next batch?
:D

Yes the deal is done! They will be winging their way to the caster tomorrow.
I'm really looking forward to getting a chance to paint some of these myself... :D
cheers

What's gonna be the cost of shipping a set of these to the UK then?
-
What's gonna be the cost of shipping a set of these to the UK then?
If you order from me, about $12 to ship a small parcel to the UK (I can get about 6-8 packs in the parcel if you want to go in with others). We are also stocked in Germany at:
Battlefield Berlin
MiniaturicuM
Unfortunately, our books are distributed by Northstar in the UK, but not miniatures. The miniatures used to be stocked by Tabletop Games, but I have not heard from them in over a year and repeated attempts to get through are met with no response. If you know a distributor who would be interested in stocking them, or even a store, have them get in touch with me.
-
Leisure Games in the UK carry your minis don't they Operator5?
-
Leisure Games were getting their stock from Tabletop I believe. I have never dealt directly with them.
But, as the consumers, you should always feel free to "ask" the retailer to get in a product for you. I would be happy to deal with Leisure Games directly.
-
You should. They seem friendly and easy to deal with and I believe their mail order business is quite large. I've also dealt with TableTop Games, oh how disappointing.

Oh, yes please! My pulp sailors need Deep Ones to fight, and my heroes (and villains!) need to know how to go insane under the 45A system!
Didn't we hear rumours of one of the later Thrilling Expedition Quarterlies being tentacle-flavoured?
-
What's gonna be the cost of shipping a set of these to the UK then?
Shipping promo currently ongoing is $15 flat rate international shipping.
Of course ordering one pack is less but I wouldn't advise that though as the percentage for shipping is then very high.

This is great news, Brigade Games is a TOP class outfit. They already get lots of my miniature budget, now they will get more.
Nice work, Lon.

You're not the only one :-*

If you sculpt more of these, and these are beautiful btw, please consider more which are unarmed.
-
If you sculpt more of these.... please consider more which are unarmed.
Yes this is something I thought about when sculpting these. For the RPG my instint would be that they are generally unarmed, as they would be if they were just hanging around in a town. This would be more in keeping with the story too. But I know for wargaming / skirmishing people prefer the figures to have weapons, a least that's what I think. It would be interesting to know what other people felt about this.
cheers

All of the above! And stop typing your wasting valuable sculpting time!
:D

Congrats to Brigade Games - I'll second the comment that Lon is 'good people', I've had some excellent experiences dealing with Brigade.
I look forward to getting a set of these figures!

Just finished those 'Hybrid' rules for Strange Aeons. gonna play 'em later and (if there are no objections...) post 'em up here as a freebee for those concerned... :)
-
So pleased these guys are getting cast up.....I wonder if they could swim their way over to Blightly given the right enticement? lol

uncle mike,
i have the opposite of an objection,

Especially if there's two of us standing on the coast with buckets of fish heads shouting.
Here fishy fishy fishy!!!
(Either that, or we order together and split postage?)
:D

i'll join you, i'm in surrey, so can make it to the coast fairly easily.
i can bring my own fish.....

Well I'm practically staring at Rlyeh...erm USA from where I am, so more the merrier.
Marrony and fairoaks drop me a PM and we can plan our course of action once cast.

I'd like to join your adventure to CV.
-
I'd like to join your adventure to CV.
What kind of Deep one bait do you bring to our little expedition?
arrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggh!!
;)
-
So how long before these are available to purchase?
-
They've been sent to the moldmaker. So figure a few more weeks yet. I promise to annouce with great fanfare when they are out. :D
-
(sounds of licking lips/wringing hands...)
:P
-
I'm trying to orchestrate a Strange Aeons Innsmouth-ish event around Halloween and it sounds like the timing on these figs just might work! Very excited.
-
Here's a photo of a couple of the new figures I've been working on. Guy on the left is smoking a cigar, will probably end up with a shotgun or rifle. One on the right is a priest/sorceror from the Order of Dagon. He's very far gone in his transformation... close to a full Deep One :)
comments welcomed ;D
(http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii125/_koboldmage_/hybrid02.jpg)
-
Very nice
-
You're good. Have you sculpted professionally before?
-
The priest really captures the fanatic zeal...waving the statue about his head. Fantastic! :o
-
These are really great. I like the more humanlike ones though.
-
I hope these will also be available through Brigade Games. Very nice work. I to would like to see more figures nearer to the Human side of transformation.
A few suggestions:
The Innsmouth bus driver
Hotel keeper
Tramp
Fishermen
-
Ah, more excellence! I mirror elysium64's suggestion.
-
just fantastic,
i like 'em both, up til now the only hybrids available were the old metal magic ones ( now EM-4) and these are way better,
although it has inspired me to paint up my old ones in preparation
for meeting their new friends when these are out :D
regards
jim
-
Fantastic! You must be Dagon's long lost child if you have these talents. I really, really like your style and the faces are superb. Yes, I will buy all of these for Cosmic Horror. Terrific stuff!
-
The new ones are great - a very cool little Cthulhu statue that fishy freak is waving around!
Any chance of that statue on it's own, or on a plinth?
-
Fantastic, I´d buy them instantly!
-
Brilliant, absolutely stunning work on those two new ones. I would echo the need for the fisherman, bus driver, and so forth.
Ryan
-
Great hybrid sculpts must order when they become available. I like the one with the cigar, absolutely stunning work....
Anders
-
Any chance of that statue on it's own, or on a plinth?
Oooo, that would be excellent for decorating sacrificial chambers or something. :-*
-
Any chance of that statue on it's own, or on a plinth?
That would be possible once the figure was cast.
The Innsmouth bus driver
Hotel keeper
Tramp
Fishermen
I'll see what I can do ;)

Seeing the picture withou reading the text my first thought was: "How excellently disturbing with a fishman gimp *). Clever, that sculptor..."
*) Sorry, I am not quite sure how an offensive term that is.
-
Heck, I'd like to be able to get that little mini 'thulhu statue all by itself - that's a great little piece for terrain or an objective marker, or just as a decoration for something else.
-
I think the furor surrounding these minis proves there is a very viable market for some update Lovecraftian minis....
-

Considering their age we demand as much.
-
They're really cool, I would buy them if they were available.
-
yeah, I'm also waiting unpatiently to see them available :-*
-
Love the hybrids! As soon as they are for sale I am buying them ;)
-
So the first batch of Hybrids are about to be released, when are we going to be able to order?
-
I should know early next week when the release date will be. As soon as I know, I'll let you know.
And there will be a new batch to show greens of as well. :D
-
Magnificent!! Ooooo.... I'd buy them up in a heartbeat!
I was blow away at this pic...
There was a spot on my monitor that made it look like the deep one on the left had a drop of something coming out of his stump.
Cleaned screen... problem resolved.
Still looked pretty cool though.
-
Who is releasing these?
-
I am. :)
-
Very excited!!! Can't wait for these!!!
-
So true Uncle Mike....got my overtime money tucked away for these fellows! ;)
-
These are awesome. I'm definately going to pick some up!
-
New update on these tomorrow (or earlier if you know where to look). ;)
-
Hi everyone
Sorry to resurrect an old topic like this, but I was just wondering if these were ever released? They're absolutely fantastic! :)
-
Brigade took them been out a while. Very nice, shame Iain couldn't have kept them, would have been perfect for his dark foam range.
