I have a little problem I am not sure what to do about it.
In short, Quiskshade strong tone from Army Painter doesn’t dry (is sticky) after a month.
In more detail though, I have base coated my miniatures with Army Painter paints. The miniatures are mounted on mdf bases. Because there was quite a number of them, I have painted edges of those mdf bases with very cheap artistic black paint (you can get a tube for £1.50 in Hobbycraft – super cheap). Then I dipped the minis in the Quickshade. After 3 or 4 days the oil-based quickshade dried as intended on the miniatures. However, on the edges of the bases it didn’t fully dry after a month! If the quickshade went with some sort of reaction with the cheap black paint I fear it may never dry.
Do you think it is possible? What would be the best way to fix this?

Yes it is entirely possible. Polyurethane varnishes are very temperamental.
If you are sure the varnish has dried completely on the figures the solution would be to lightly rub each mdf base edge on a sheet of sandpaper.

As Robh said, if you can just scrape it off.
otherwise i'd suggest giving them a light baking, perhaps in a foil lined box under an old lightbulb to get some heat on the minis and see how that works.

Are these figures made of plastic or metal? Some kind of plastic might be really tricky to work with :?

Thanks a lot for your answers.
Today I began to scrape the varnish off the edges. It goes quite easily but will still take some time as there is 250 minis.
After scraping I will paint the edges black again with the same paint and varnish them with acrylic interior varnish. I checked it out for few miniatures how that will behave, and it works well.
Also, the miniatures are plastic, but again, there is no problem with them.

What about using fine sand paper on edge of mdf.
See if it removes both acrylic and quick shade. May be quicker than scrapping.

Uhm… What was I thinking? Sorry, this is what I have done. I used a word ‘scraping’ because of a brain fart or something. Yes, I am using a fine sandpaper to take the varnish off.

Love that phase should be used more often.
