You know the ones I'm talking about, the elusive Weird World War II metal versions of the characters that you've seen some members post pictures of and that I myself painted in a sacrilegious green.
Well, I have it on good authority that the person who did the originals might be convinced to do a second run of them if there is enough demand for them.
So if you'd like a set, let your voice be heard. ;)
My badly painted ones (they're better in real life, honestly... ;) ):
I should also point out that I am in no way affiliated with the people behind the figures and that I'm just trying to measure the degree of interest so that they can decide whether it's worth it or not. I know what it's like seeing great figures online and then hearing I can't buy them, so thought I'd try to get the ball rolling.
Anyone who'd buy one, just post to this thread.
-
Id have a set definatly..
Tony
-
I would grab a set as well
-
Oh, go on then :D
-
Oh yes indeed!
-
Me too!
-
Definitely - two sets for me! Been after these for donkeys ...
-
Just to add to WK's praise: the minis are great and I can highly recommend them. I believe it to be a very good idea to have them available again!
-
I'd be in for a set. :)
-
i have a set to and there awsome
-
Sign me up.
-
And another!
-
Me too! I'll have a set, please...
-
Yes please!
-
Yes please...
-
I've already got a couple verions of cap, but those are quite nice... how much would they be?
-
Yes, please.
-
I already have a couple of these sets, and let me say that they are beautiful sculpts, and the best treatment of the subject in WW2 that I've seen. I would strongly encourage anyone who is interested to jump on the bandwagon and encourage the source to make another run. Totally worth it. Nice guy, too.
-Doc
-
I will jump on the bandwagon for a couple
-
Me too, depending on price of course.
-
You can put my name down for two sets.
-
me too
-
I'm in for a set. What the hell, do a Red Skull as nice as these, and I'd buy him too!!
-
Here is a Herr Skull mini from What The?! Miniatures painted up as the Red Skull. Makes a perfect mini with Cap and Buck.
Brian

-
Add me to the list :D
-
How much would the set be?
I would be interested if the Red Skull was included as well.
-
i'd buy 2 sets,
regards
jim

The link for the What The?! Red Skull:

Just perfect!
-
Yep, Herr Skull looks awesome. I'd already planned on adding him to my WWWII Axis Villains roster along with some of Kampfgruppe Cottrell's most excellent looking zombies. So many cool figures out there, I need to find more hobby time.
-
I like the look of this bandwagon, think I'll join in. Sign me up, Excelsior! lol
-
Nooooooooooo! Don't re-release them!
Then my first release figs won't be worth as much on ebay!
lol
-
Well, they're always going to be pretty limited. ;)
-
Yes please :)
-
YES PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Blimey, Herr Skull is rather a nice figure.
-
Yes please !
-
I also crave them....
-
Yes, from sunny and hot Italy!
-
I have a set already but would love another one.
-
I'd love some too!
-
Add me to the list as wanting these minis!
-
Frequent Lurker, 1rst time poster.
As a rabid CPT A fan (I have a 14 in tatoo on my left side). You must rerelease these minis. :-*
-
I would absolutely pick these up!
-
Yes, from sunny and hot Italy!
Show off. lol
-
I think it's abundantly clear that we all want these figures re-released. ;D
How about adding this thought into the mix: What about adding WWWII Sub-mariner and Human Torch figures as well?
(It wouldn't be practical from a sculpting standpoint to have the Torch aflame, but a non-flaming Human Torch in his android longjohns would probably have a lot of other uses as well- He'd make an excellent Dan Dare for one thing).
-
I just use a repainted clix figure for the human torch, works well enough.
-
I just use a repainted clix figure for the human torch, works well enough.
By that logic, why do we need a metal WWWIII Cap and Bucky then? There are certainly several Heroclix Captain Americas...
I was agitating for a metal Namor & Torch because the gun-toting Cap & Bucky are superior sculpts in a superior substance (can't stand those bendy 'clix! >:(). I also thought that Namor would be a good choice for WWWIII scenarios since as a misanthropic anti-hero he could show up on either side in a conflict, or as a third force warring against everybody.
-
Namor is a favorite of mine as well and may see something like him in the future. It is not uncommon for him to throw 1/2 tracks around the battlefield and his favorite game is to pick up a could Ratzis, fly straight up into the clouds and just let them loose. :D You do have to be careful with him when fighting with the Human Torch because it is common for those two to get into it and that is not a pretty sight. Luckily, Namor and Hammond respect Rogers and they usually keep their hatred in check that is if Cap is around.
Brian
(http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc178/kampfgruppecottrell/304px-Namor_005.jpg)
He looks a bit funny but I wouldn't tell him that to his face.
-
If by "a bit funny" you mean "as gay as hell" then yes, I agree.
What's his story? In the 80s I used to read reprints of old 60s Marvel, and in those he seemed to be quite the bad guy a lot of the time.
-
He is a half human half Atlantian Prince (royal type) of Atlantis. Mother was Atlantian and Pop was human ship Captain. After a human ship unknowingly damaged Atlantis and injuring the King, Namor was sent above to wreak revenge for the human transgression. He attacked New York City and just kicked the Hell outta it. He was then confronted by the android, Human Torch in comics first crossover ever. He was later convinced by a human female cop the error in thinking that Atlantis was being attacked by the surface world. He later fell in love with the gal and helped fight against the human criminal element as well as Nazis during WWII with other Golden Age heroes like Cap, Bucky, Human Torch and Toro. In the Golden Age they were called the All-Winners Squad but in the later cannon they were named the Invaders.
His a short fused bad ass who has next to no remorse or pity so he makes the perfect warrior. He can pick up several tons and fly. He is also the Avenging Price of Atlantis and often leads the forces of Atlantis against his enemies. He can breath underwater, swim fast as Hell and can see in near total darkness.
Has a ongoing aversion to the Human Torch but hates the Ratzis more for their attacks against his kingdom.
The Silver Age and Modern Age cannons are super complex so if you want to catch up check out his entry on Wikipedia.

Another long time lurker here!
I too would like a rerelease of the "Star Spangled Sentinel" and "Boy Commando". ;)
I missed out...
-
If by "a bit funny" you mean "as gay as hell" then yes, I agree.
:o you tell me of one superhero in spandex who doesn't look gay:o
-
Of course you are right, but the Sub-Mariner looks especially gay. Even when he is making out with Reed Richards' wife he still somehow manages to look gay. ;D
-
maybe because of the lack of textiles
-
It would be cool to see a line of Golden Age sculpts for the now "public domain" heroes of the 1940s like The Black Angel, Air Boy, Magno the Magnetic Man, etc.
http://goldenagecomics.co.uk/
-
awsome pic I see miss america there.
-
There are quite a few PD Golden Age heroes on the board now and with Alex Ross doing art for their re-insertion into the comic industry it may be a good idea to do so. A few are on our list but it's a way down the line for our projects.
Brian
-
Hmmmmm, yes. Now I know how Gollum felt when he saw Frodo with the ring. Yes, yes, I do believe I would buy a set of figures. I'm liking Red Skull fella too. They will be mine, oh yes, they will be mine! Can't figure out why no one has snatched me up yet...... lol
-
a new one their bringing out is the two gun kid,A while back I did a repaint on some hero clix and made a MISS AMERICA and THE WIZZER.
-
Please count me in for two sets PLEASE. :-*
-
Yup, I definitely want a set. Put me down for it!
-Alex in Alaska
-
Provided the price is right, I'd get a pack :)
-
Careful, Mickey Mouse might catch you doing this. >:D
-
Right, I've been told that based on this thread and the one on the SOTR forum, the minis will be re-released and that they should be ready by next week.
Price will still be $25 which includes shipping worldwide. Set includes Cap, Bucky and Caps' Original and Classic shield with 25mm bases.
Do not contact me with orders, I have nothing to do with them. Those who expressed an interest on this thread will get a PM by the seller when the minis are out.
;)
-
fine
the seller should make a final announcement
-
Just to reinterate, I want a set. LOL
-
At $25 I'll give this set a miss, now if it was Cap, Bucky and Fury's Howling Commandos maybe.
-
$25 is pretty expensive. Although I appreciate that the price includes shipping, $10 per figure is asking a lot. I'll have to consider this.
-
Whoa! That's steep! £3 or so a figure is still fine, but £8 for one figure? I think at that kind of cost I'll also have to pass.
-
I thought we might get a few of the "me toos" falling off the bandwagon when I saw that price.
-
i'm fine with the price as it includes shipping too,
i'm still up for them,
regards
jim
-
so how do we order them then and do we get first picks??
Tony
-
As I said, everyone who expressed an interest here, will get a PM with further details.
As for the price, I appreciate the sentiments (although, for those in the UK, a year ago that would have worked out at closer to £4-5 each if you subtracted the shipping, guess the exchange rate is to blame).
-
As they say in the Dragons Den - "I'm Out".
-
Just for the record, I have these figs, got via a trade, and paid actually a little more than $25 for them, and I'd do it again without hesitation. They're better looking in real life than in the pics of them. I'll agree that they're on the pricey side for miniatures, but also consider that this will probably be your only chance to get them, they're rare and would probably cost a lot more once they're OOP like when I got mine. Just for the record.
-
I still want 'em, and the Skull, and some US Paras from Artizan to back them up, and I have a Jeep (for some reason, no other WWII around! ;D), I want some nice tankses, and some mutant Nazis, and.......
-
Man, some of ya just arent paying attention.
It isnt £8 a fig. It is $25 for both figs, both shields, and shipping and handling to ANYWHERE in da world.
Did i miss something? Is that not the case?
It is a limited edition run. A small production for something that is not out there.
The figs are very nicely sculpted from what i have seen on here.
Are the prices higher than your normal run of the mill figs? Sure, for some companies, for others not so much.
In the end, nice figs, nice sculpts, nice hole filler for those looking for the models. :-)
Grimm
-
They are some awsome models to paint every time I pick up the model and brush I found another bit of detail I miss. They are a joy to paint and worth 25 bucks to own a set.
-
Ok, so you convinced me, Im back in.
-

I was paying attention... $25 equates to about £16, which equates to about £8 per figure. That's double Hasslefree's £4 cost per figure, triple Artizan's £3 price for single figures (when the KKBB range was available in singles) and just under double the cost of this site's Professor- £4.90.

Yes, it is a limited edition run, and yes, they are nicely sculpted, but the price is very steep. While I'd love to have the figures, they're a lot more pricy than other limited run figures that I have bought- limited run figures (usually about 100 or so tops) on several forums tend to go at £5 or so.
While I'm a collector/hoarder, I'm not that hooked on buying figures that I'm willing to pay that much for one figure. I'll repeat my "pass" on these.
-
Ok, its steeper than I expected, even after after postage and packing has been deducted. But as far as I can see, CMON seem to sell their limited editions for a bit more, and not one of those sculpts has ever appealed to me. These ones I really like.
I'm still in.

You're quite entitled to your opinion and I have no stakes in this but just want, for completeness sake, to point out that you're comparing to UK companies (and I appreciate that from your end it remains the same wherever they are) and that one of the reasons that these work out at a considerably higher price is that the US dollar - Pound sterling conversion rate is at an all time low (or high, depending where you stand) and that under normal conditions, the price wouldn't have been this steep in the UK. (Also, I have the figures and there's three artizan figures worth of metal in the set).
-
I took the freedom to ousource the question of acquisition to a new poll
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=13036.0
-
Another thing to keep in mind with the price is the fact that these really shouldn't exist. They are not like our normal "Not" characters. These very obviously represent Cap and Bucky. I'm sure Marvel and their new partner Disney would not be happy about it if they ever caught wind of it. For the manufacturer to take that chance I'm willing to pay the price requested.
Plus, they are really awesome sculpts. I have a set now (that got screwed up with bad primer) and they are really amazing in hand.
-
Sign me up for a set.
-
I am still in.
-
I am in for a set also. Do I need to post on both sections?
-
For my money, I think £16 for both may be a bit steep, but I'm still in.
Think of it as £4 for Cap, £4 for Bucky, £4 P&P and £4 worth of bragging rights at having them :P
-
I'd get a set, even at $25!
-
Hi,
If these are still available , I'm in for a set.
-
After having spoken with someone who ordered them, I think I should have thought to mention that they are in a heroic scale and somewhat taller than your run in the mill 28mm WW2 soldier. Best check first whether that bothers you or not.
-
Hello Everyone,
I received mine today and they really nicely sculpted. :-* Sure they are on the pricey side but they are truly unique and will make a wonderful addition to the collection. I was going to paint them myself but now I am thinking maybe having someone else do them. Wonder if the Prof is available? ;)
-
Yeah the "heroic" scale thing would have been nice. Still nice figs, just don't know how I'm going to use them now.
-
I am an idiot, I've had them so long I'm used to it and don't see it anymore. :?
-
Cap is the peak of human perfection so he would be larger then most so I think he will work with most 28mm ranges.
Brian
-
i automatically assumed cap was bigger than a normal guy,
works for me.
regards
jim
-
For anybody familiar with the SoTR range, he's about the same size as a Sentinel, which I think were more or less inspired by the "Super Soldier" concept. So yeah, slightly bigger than your normal sized infantryman, but he's supposed to be (for reasons pointed out by Kampfgruppe Cottrell.) Well, as he's going to be a Sentinel in my AI force, it works for me.
-
Mine arrived safely in the UK this morning,
excellent figures, really looking forward to painting them up,
regards
jim
-
Got mine as well and think they are great.
Thanks,
matt
-
Missed the boat or still chance to get these? ???
-
Mine arrived today. Worth the price in anybody's currency. :-*
I take in the comments about Cap being a big lad, and he is, but he is an almost perfect match for my Black Tree G.I.s. Great job, KC and crew!
Wants to paint them now, but other stuff to finish first! >:(
-
Here are mine painted by a better brush then myself, Alden Miranda.
Enjoy,
Brian

Mine arrived safely - very nice figures.
-
Did I miss out on these again?? >:(
Ah well :'(
-
Yes. Apparently I have missed them twice as well. Any chance of another go around?
-
Any chance of getting a set for myself, or has that ship sailed already?
If so...
Nooooooooooooooooo!
-
I never saw those before today, and I have to say they are gorgeous - some really nice paint jobs in this thread.
I would really love to get a set, if they ever pop up again. I always seemt o find out about the cool stuff a month later.... :-[

I think you're closer to three months later on this one. :)

-
So who do we PM to get hold of these American paragons?
-
After a painting hiatus... I was just thinking about exactly those miniatures and got motivated. Pity I missed this as well...
-
I missed them too. But still there is hope. Some one, somewhere sometime will be willing to sell me a spare pair, so i can only rejoice ;javascript:void(0);D
-
And it never hurts to post in this thread in case the powers that be are still watching it... ;)
-
Yes, just in case. One can never know, can he? ::)
-
I'd like to get my hands on these and maybe a Union Jack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Jack_(comics)) if anyone had the desire to do one.
-
And it never hurts to post in this thread in case the powers that be are still watching it... ;)
So very true
-
maybe a Union Jack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Jack_(comics))
Holy cow... My Marvel reading is limited to certain titles... Never seen this cool cat. Need one now for my Brits.
Oh... Cap and Bucky are a BEAUTY!!!
-
If they ever come up again I would like a set too
-
ME TOO!
-
I really love this minis, if they will ever return i would be a very glad man.
You know, there are certain feelings a women can´t give to you (just kidding)
Actually I think I am really to late - but if there is a chance ....
-
I am interested in these minis also. If there's a means to obtain it tell me.
thanks
-
i wouldnt mind a set too - can see the interest in them increasing soon also what with the new film coming out.....
-
Yes, Yes! Absotively!
SteveN
-
Likewise. At least one set, possibly two.
-
Likewise I'd want two sets. I've got a mate that is collecting Secrets of the Third Reich Americans, but if I only got one set I wouldn't be able to give them away.
-
Sorry for the threadomancy (I don't know if i've made a faux pas by doing it) but if the Capt. and Bucky sets were available again, I would be up for buying them too.
-
I would buy a one or two sets.
-
I would buy at least 3 sets.
-
I would be interested in a set.
-
Gosh, when have we finally reached the magic "want-one" number to get this set re-released lol
I want a set btw ^^
-
PM sent, I don't know if it went through though.
-
Because the demand is so high and all the PMs I've been getting I did another casting so if you would like one just PM me and I'll give ya the details.
Thanks again guys,
Brian
-
That's great news - PM sent!
-
Another PM sent. :D
-
Me too! PM sent. Need that Skull fellow too!
-
Spot on - and a must for any superhero loving miniature nerd (just like me) ;D
Yet another PM sent.

Cap and Bucky are still floating around in the universe, and will make an appearance from time-to-time. Brian, indeed, has a lot on his plate, but I have a very strong suspicion that the two will still be available for gaming. FYI, the offical notification hasn't been made, yet, as we are working out some technical issues with the website, but I am the new owner of What the...?! Miniatures, and we'll be back up and running very shortly. The topic does not need to be locked.

Well perhaps PM's should be aimed your way then :D
Looking forward to seeing how you progress with What the....? Miniatures how about The Submariner & Union Jack :D
-
how about The Submariner & Union Jack :D
And a non-flaming android Human Torch...!
-
A great Golden Age young Subby would be tops. None of the Clix really fit that bill.
-
Any of you that have suggestions for what you might like to see on the gaming table, then PM me here. I'm liking what I'm hearing from the gamers in our community. FYI, the emails sent to whattheminiatures.com are coming back to everyone as 'undeliverable', and we don't have it figured out just yet. So bear with us during this transition, please.

I would really like a HULK like figure, I have a soft spot for the big green guy.
-
I'm with Heldrak, Namor and the Human Torch!
-
The rest of The Invaders is a must!
Probably beyond the scope of What The.. but like many people I'd love to see some (not!) Marvel/DC heroes in 28mm lead!

This is actually what I was interested in, in hearing some input, as I am definitely going to take on some other genres in addition to fleshing out the Weird War II lines.
Keep up with the input, or check out this thread:
