With the arrival of TFL's Infamy! Infamy ruleset this year inspired me to once again travel back in time and dip my feet back into the wars of Rome and her enemies. I decided to start with Germans as I like their savage no nonsense approach to warfare as one could see in the epic Gladiator film and the fantastic range of Germans the Foundry range gave us those many years ago!

"Ihr seid vefluchte Hunde!" is the only phrase I seem to understand, however they don't speak anything else in the movie, do they? Hagen does later, but that's not German... lol

One of the wonderful things about Infamy! Infamy' is the inclusion of Ambush markers and Wailing Women that adds not only a great opportunity to run with the imagination and enhance the table, but an excellent way for troops to deploy onto the table. I really enjoy the TFL's creative set of rules!

Now come some Romans to battle the Germans! These are 3rd Century Roman Legionaries the core of my Infamy force. I quite like the slightly eclectic look they had in this period and thus are a lot of fun to paint as you can take liberties without losing the impression of the period.

Yes I have played Infamy! Infamy' and it's a superb game, but I haven't with these figures yet as I'm in the process of building them to a playable point.

Every Roman commander needs something to protect his Legionaries flanks and to scout out ahead for ambushes so I present some Auxiliary infantry who excel at doing just that.

The excellent paintjobs are really set off by the shield bronze rims and bosses- an idea that I think my Byzantines might benefit from 8)
