Between 2005 and 2009 I painted up a squad of Imperial Fists space marines with the intention of expanding them into a small force. 2021 and it's still that same squad of models but I was curious to see if I could replicate the old colour scheme so I've started painting up an officer.

Here's the original squad in better lighting so they look a bit more yellow.

Wow! :o
-
I remember seeing that original squad and thinking how beautifully smooth the yellow was... and so full of character the squad was :) .
Fantastic work and I am sure that you'll find a way to get that yellow spot on :) .
-
That yellow really pops, amazing work.

Blimey those are amazing :o

outstanding paint job on a very tricky color!

Forgot to update the thread but I did actually go on to paint up a whole command squad to go with the officer. Librarian, medic, chaplain and tech all done.

Man, your painting is so smooth. Awesome work.
-
Absolutely lovely work there. Rogal Dorn would be proud of your lads. :)
-
Simply :-*
What beautiful and charactful old models that remind me so much of when I started down the 40K road, I don`t want to think of how many years ago that was :o lol
Excellent work

Super smooth marines

Perfection! :-*

Sunning :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
How do you get them so smooth?
-
Shave 'em every day? ;D
Seriously though; put these paint jobs next to original RT 'Eavy Metal work, and the late eighties would be crying salty tears of pure envy!
I have my own force of RT era (WH40K 1.5) Imperial Fists, but now that I've seen these, they really pale in comparison and I'll never look at them the same way again...
Awesome work; please show us more! 8)

How do you get them so smooth?
It's just layering but with each layer carefully blended into one another.
Awesome work; please show us more! 8)
That's all I've got painted so far. Might add a little something. Got a few bits and pieces that would be nice single model additions. Not sure I want to embark on another full unit yet though.

They look fantastic. You'll have to post some pics once they are in action killing the enemies of the Emperor.

Lovely work :D

Proving yet again that you're absolutely the best painter of 28mm there is.
What you've done with these models is truly stunning.
