Title: (Commercial) New Additions to Austrian 1859 range
Post by: Terryb on February 20, 2021, 07:54:22 AM
Hi chaps
Just to let you know I have extended the 1859 Austrian range. In addition to the line infantry, we now have Jägers in various poses, Uhlans,  Hussars and cuiraissiers.
The website is piranswarriors.co.uk (http://piranswarriors.co.uk)

They look really good, I especially like the cavalry, very nicely painted as well. :)

Thanks Jambo
I commissioned the range as their was not a lot of availability out there for this period. They were for my own use initially and they have fought my Italians and French across many battlefields, but decided to offer them into the Wargame market.
It was a fascinating period in history what with the Crimean, Franco/Prussian and Austro/Prussian wars all taking place around a short time line. And the uniforms and colour schemes in my mind rivals the Napoleonic Wars

😂😂 Less of the OLD, thanks. Yep that’s me. Getting greyer every day.  Mind you, you know who I play games with, can you blame me?🤪

Great to make your LAF acquaintance and yes I understand why you become more like Theoden under the influence of the Cornish Grima Wormtongues...😂😂😂. Hope all is well Terry!  Guess these are add ins to Adam’s 1859 ranges?  Giles, Karl and Ads still on the scene?

Hi Roo, all good here in soggy Cornwall. The gang is still going strong. Older but definitely not wiser. Adam sold his Franco/Prussian range to John at Athena Miniatures but I’m expanding the Austrians, to eventually include mounted commanders and artillery.
Hope all is well with you

Excellent figs....I've been busy painting mine up.

Working on some Jager and a line regiment at the moment. And for those interested...some comparison shots with Great War Crimean French and Ironclad French.

Cheers Terry.

For the Austrians there is a lot of white to deal with! As I plan on doing big battles I am more interested in the overall look than a detailed individual figure. So here's what I do.

Undercoat in citadel wraithbone - either spray or brush. This is a nice cream colour and a good base to white. Trousers are citadel contrast talassar blue. Guns and packs are contrast gore grunta fur. Flesh is Darkoath flesh. These give good coverage and the right look en mass. Uniform and cross belts are done in white - almost dry brushed but taking care to leave the edges of straps and seams in the base coat, and then given a wash with Apothecary white (which is a greyish colour). Overall I think it works. I use an oily steel and standard black colours for shako cover, boots, and for the cross belts on jägers.

I should have some cavalry ready by the end of next week as I'll have finished the Jager and line regiment by then.
