Title: All at Sea - The Trafalgar Project Nears Completion
Post by: carojon on 20 February 2021, 09:48:43 AM
With just twelve more models to go, I thought I would post a sneak preview of the collection of 1:700th models designed to allow a series of Trafalgar games to be run with the chaps from the Devon Wargames Group in support of veteran charities, once the pandemic restrictions on social gatherings are relaxed.

The models are all from the Black Seas range from Warlord Games, with several conversions to cover some of the 80's and 64's and will eventually include all the ships present on the day including the unrated's from both sides.

Thanks to Warlord Games I am able to press on with completion of the collection plus further support for our charity raising efforts to come.

Cor. It was tiring enough doing them in 1:3000. You're crazy brave.

Thanks for your comments chaps.

I don’t about brave, this little project has been a fun way to occupy the time spent in lockdown!

What a splendid sight - Splice the Mainbrace!

I don't know if you are aware of this:- http://www.navalwargamessociety.org/events.html

They run a naval wargames weekend in October at the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, not a million miles from you and your club.  Obviously they didn't run one last year, but I would guess that it should be back up and running again this year - worth contacting them at any "rate" (see what I did there?).

As Russell Crowe said when interviewed about Master & Commander - "Every Englishman should come out of the cinema feeling a couple of feet taller!"

Wow. A prodigious and impressive amount of work. You have made the models look very good. I particularly like your choice of subtle, faded yellow ochre colours on the hulls, rather than garish bright yellows.

I love the signal flags on what I presume is the Victory.

This looks absolutely amazing!   :-*

I would love to come and see this game if it's going to be open to the public? Any likely venues yet?

Hi and thank you.

I’m quite keen to let others come and see the game in play and invite others to play as well, as the project is designed to help refresh the coffers of the veterans charities which have, like others, really suffered raising money during the pandemic.

Exeter University and our club venue in Exeter are likely venues but dates are up in the air until the pandemic rules are better understood to allow such gatherings.
