Title: Just arrived...
Post by: James Morris on 01 September 2009, 05:14:52 PM
Hi, seeing as I've just joined I'm informed it's the done thing to post an introduction!

I'm 37, based in Nottingham, UK.  Been an Ancients-Dark Ages-Medieval gamer for the last 15 years or so and somehow got lured into the murky realm of gaming the 1930s, which appears to include guns, uniforms and armoured vehicles, three things that I am rapidly becoming more familiar with!  A chance holiday read and a trip to Ethiopia fired my interest in the minor altercation involving the Italians in that area in 1935-41.  I'm clearly hooked, as I appear to have around 200 painted figures and a stack of reading on the subject already...didn't realise it was such a slippery slope...

I've also been gaming Spanish Civil War as well as Ethiopia, but have only been gaming one rules set so far, so will be very interested to keep an eye on what you chaps are playing.

Cheers

James

Hello there, and welcome. May I humbly request that at some point, when you're not too busy, could you perhaps share some photos of your many Ethiopian war figures on the Colonial Adventures board? I'm sure the membership would love to see them. I have about ten figures painted for this conflict and any inspiration I can get from others is good. The reason it is so few is that originally they were only supposed to be for a couple of vignettes for our painting competition, but it has sort of snowballed into a mini-project (currently on the back-burner while I concentrate on other things).

Yes, of course, I have posted a message in the Colonial Adventures page with links.  This project seems to have taken over and is inspiring me to do a lot of research and painting!

Cheers
