I'm working on a project covering the early 18th century Russian expeditions into what is now Kazakhstan up the Irtysh river.
I want to have some provincial militia types and ideally would like to use streltsy type figures as the basis- but everyone I've seen has a Bardiche axe as a rest.
Ideally I'm looking for tall chunky 28mm figures wearing kaftans and fur trimmed headgear to match my Musketeer/Wee Wolf GNW Russians
Any ideas in metal or plastic?

Have you looked at TAG?

I have and thought they all carried the Bardiche. I suppose those holding it in their hand could have it cut and trimmed off. But wanted to see what other options there were.

I have also been wondering about this. I've toyed with the idea of using TAG haiduks (some of which are bardiche-less) with headswaps or greenstuff beards/hats. Or maybe, getting the TAG soldats and giving them muskets instead of pikes? But if there are any purpose-built figures like you're looking for, I would also love to hear about it.

Warfare Miniatures do a pack of Streltsy but they seem to be out of stock at the moment...
