Hello,
Are there any books out there pertaining to the uniforms of the Rif War?
Thank you
-
Hi, I know Osprey publish a Men-at-Arms book on the Spanish Foreign Legion which I guess would cover the period of the Rif War.
-
The osprey book is good on the participation of the Legion but has nothing on the french or Rifs . The first quarter of the book is dedicated to the Rif war and there is one colour plate and text covering legion uniforms of the period . Our friends beneath the sands by Martin Windrow has detail on the french participation but no uniform info although various Osprey books cover uniforms of the French Foreign Legion

Steven's Balagan contains a painting guide for the Rif Wars (https://balagan.info/painting-guide-for-the-rif-wars?fbclid=IwAR2o4AUodNmAoHP2VGcS7cFN6JkI1aP67aHXs7Uxt48foIpJtwBq5liA4YM)
Too Fat Lardies publish Wargamers Guide to the Rif War (https://toofatlardies.co.uk/product-category/the-riff-war/) by Richard Baber
Otherwise you are looking rare and expense sources such as the work of Jose Maria Bueno or Edwin Herbert's Risings and Rebellions 1919-39 (Wargames Foundry)

Didn`t I answer this question over on FB??

Helion is coming out with a new book later this year.

Well everything mentioned in the intro is covered in my guide published by Toofatlardies :)

It might be out of print, but Risings and Rebellions: 1919 to 1939 by Edwin Herbert, published by Wargames Foundry, has a couple of chapters on the Rif War, covering both the Spanish and French campaigns. Good luck finding a copy!

I`m told it is bloody expensive these days - bought my copy brand knew for £10 back in the day lol
