I just made an order to restock my dwindling painting pile, and Paypal tells me my payment is pending as it is "reviewing my payment" and hopes to have done so in between 24-72 hours.
I can only assume they have some sort of algorithm which decided I was spending more out of my account than usual or something like that.
The Paypal help page is predictably uninformative; just wondered whether anyone else has had this happen, knows whether it normally gets sorted without an issue?

I've had a similar issue some time ago.
If you're doing everything as usual, the likelihood is that the seller is either new or (if a trader) has outstanding refunds unpaid and/or complaints unresolved.
Send the seller a brief email as there are other effecting factors.

Yes, that's the odd thing - ordering from a reputable company, from where I've ordered before without any issues, that's why I thought maybe it was the amount I was ordering for. But I'll see if it does get cleared in the 24-72 hours Paypal states and hopefully it's just a routine check, otherwise will follow your suggestion, thanks for the heads up.

I've had this before - completely at random. Not sure what the cause actually was.

I've also experienced this. So not so unique!

I had this once when I was stocking up on Taliban RPGs and AKs - did part of your order have any dodgy words in it?

I think ive had this happen to me in the past too. I think its just a random routine anti-fraud thing. Nothing to worry about.

Same happened to me twice ordering Persians, Russians, and various Caucasians from Irregular Minis in the UK (I'm in US). The product descriptions triggered a PayPal review twice!

If your Paypal is linked to a Visa card, there have been problems with Visa confirming online payments since 2pm on the 20th and 1am on the 21st. That could be the issue.

This happened to me a few days ago. I didn’t receive a message indicating the payment would be held up; rather, I just received one saying the hold up had been cleared.

If you get any of these emails don’t click on the links,I have had two recently, both scams. Close your emails down and log into PayPal through your server, and check there.

Just reading something similar on a 3d content forum. The item was an Egyptian bundle and it looks like paypal flagged it as someone trying to buy antiquities o_o

Heck this is good advice for...anything. Never, ever click on a link in an email...for any reason.

I had one of these last year and it turned out to be from PayPal but, if I remember correctly, the email asked me to contact them not click a link.
I called them and they had no idea, saying the payment had gone through, checked and it hadn't, tried to buy something else and that was blocked.
In total I spent nearly 6 hours on the phone and their text chat helpline before one person saw the problem on their system (wouldn't tell me what it was) and sorted it out in about 30 seconds.
Decided that the bit of time saved using PayPal rather than just entering my own details wasn't worth this happening again and closed my account - that wasn't the simplest of processes either.
