Around August of 2020 I started 3D printing a samurai castle as a gift for my brother. His job was painting it and putting it on his table for a game, whenever Covid allows. Early in 2021 the full castle STL files were released by 3DAlienWorlds and I was able to finish printing the whole thing. After roughly 1,100 hours of printing, and 11kg of filament, here's the result. We're both pretty pleased with it and hopefully will get a game in sometime in May after we both get our vaccines.

Looks awesome! How envious I am right now...

FANTASTIC! :-*
"1,100 hours of printing, and 11kg of filament"
For the castle only?
Plus painting it, plus the figures, plus painting the figures and all other diorama elements?
So... about 2000 hours for all?
I could not even think about spend all that time/filament just for one project. I really admire your determination.
GREAT JOB! :-*

Awesome!
Is it based on any particular castle?
-
Truly impressive!

Man, that's a gorgeous building/table.

Wow! Stupendous! Amazing! Inspirational!!!

Answering the questions:
Not based on any particular castle. I sketched out the design based on the available STL files from 3DAlienWorlds to make it big enough to "show magnificence" without totally dominating the battlefield.
With regard to the effort my brother and I have been painting mini's for roughly 35 years. We started Samurai maybe 20 years ago so the castle was the only additive part for the period. Even though there are quite a few Samurai on the table they would be dwarfed by the horde of Napoleonics or ACW we've painted. :)

That is a stunningly epic table. You have every right to be proud of the hard work you have put into creating that world in miniature.
