From "The Nightgaunt's Nightmare" by Cosmondo.  3d Printed miniatures.  Although advertised as 32mm the seller printed these at 28mm for me so they fit with other Pulpy-type figures.

First up, the Anarchist, the Hunter and the Gangster

The missing figure from the Daughters of the Empire set (I didn't photograph it with the others.   ::) )

Couple of group shots.  (I'll be posting on Ebay tomorrow and I think the group shots help.)

A dwarf - or very short  ???  - Deep Sea Diver.  (Think it's an Inso sculpt from way back.  Probably OOP now.)

Tangrenbu - Brigade Games.

There are four packs of three miniatures.  I changed the order though as I saw them in a kind of Caste system in the Tong.  (These are slotta tab figures but the new owner wanted thin bases.)

The lowest form of thug first.

Then the next-level up.  A slightly higher grade of thug.

Then these chaps are the assassins \ executioners.  When they are sent out the Tong leaders want everyone to know what is happening.

And talking of the Leaders...

Thanks Lon.

In the raw metal they don't really look like Leaders, well, perhaps the suited guy with swordstick.  Once painting starts though the sculptor's intention becomes clear.  The one pointing the gun obviously has an expensive red silk shirt and the other has a very expensive hat and a Chinese-style jacket far superior to the underlings.   :)

Thanks.  Glad you like them.   :)

How do you get the subtle shades in the clothing? I can get shades, but not the gentle change of colours.

Thinned paints, several layers though often "only" three shades and, usually, I mix my own paint.  That red jacket, for example.  A red paint.  Add black for the base colour, then add the original red back in for mid and more for highlight.  Also, I usually make sure previous layer is dry so this is not wet-blending.  Occasionally I add a glaze - base colour thinned to almost water.  Chap in the long blue garment with sword and pistol had a glaze.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. So that I can be sure I understood this, the red jacket would be washes of red-black-red-red, all layers dry between washes. Is that correct?

And what's the difference between a wash and a glaze?

...Is that correct?

Not quite.  The red jacket, in fact most of my stuff, no glaze or wash.  So it was:  Red & Black for the base coat.  Then add red into the mix for the next layer, more red for the last\highlight.

And what's the difference between a wash and a glaze?

For me, a wash is thinned paint or ink, and a glaze is the same but even more water.  (So thin, it's almost water...  ::) )

A wash is very thinned paint (water for acrylics, turps for oils).  A glaze is very small amounts of opaque pigment suspended within a transparent medium (liquid acrylic medium for acrylics,
linseed oil for oils) that dries translucent like glass.  It can be layered upon.
