Title: Reed's Confrontation figures thread
Post by: Reed on May 09, 2021, 07:34:38 PM
Greetings!

As the title says, I've created this thread to post all the figures from the extinct Rackham's game that I will be progressively painting. I'd like to collect pretty much all the factions.

I'll start the thread with what I recently did: some Dawn Warriors and a special character, Ysis. One of them has been painted earlier as a test model, and then I did the rest with some changes. The color choice for armour and clothes is that they are an evil faction, but an empire too, so that must show somehow. And there isn't a colour as imperial as purple.

Now, I should mention that this is going to be a bit heavy on the picture side, so apologies for that...

 Very nice work on these.
A great range of miniatures.Shame they went for pre-painted plastics later on though.I think that was one of the things which led to the closure.

Yeah, a shame that they went under. I think those pre-painted plastics could have had much more success if it wasn't Rackham who released them and they hadn't blow up their metals line...

Anyways, today I offer you a humble Hybrid.

Now I'm 3 figures short of reaching my first goal for 2021. That is, 36 miniatures painted (one more than I painted in 2020).

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments, much appreciated.

I mentioned that I had already painted one of the sides of the Wolfen-Scorpions 2 player set. Well, I failed a discipline roll and ended up purchasing said 2-player set. Therefore, I'm currently painting the Wolfen side.
I must say that I'm used to Infinity figures, so these Wolfen feel massive and heavy for me.

It's because of miniatures like this that I feel grateful for having an airbrush.

Great work on those.  The pics are pretty small on my side, but Confrontation is always excellent to see.

Yeah, I reduced the size a bit. They looked massive on my screen. As always, they can be opened on a new tab to view them expanded.

Today, another furry friend joins the Wolfen of Yllia. Great Fang #2

One more miniature and I will surpass my 2020 miniature tally (which was a meagre total of 36 figures)

just superb. Lovely paint-job.

by gum, I wish their ranges were 'properly' still available. From what I see in threads etc such as this, I don't think they've really been bettered.

Great to see the Wolfen being done too.

Still got a lot of the range in a box some place along with the Dungeon type game they did with Dirz and Griffon miniatures. The magazines that they did were top quality.Still have them.Loved the terrain they did in them.

Lovely work on these. It makes me want to dig out my dozen or so Wolfen minis, but my painting skills are put to shame by yours, so I probably won't for a while.

Onyx the Prowler. It has been tough both to paint and to photograph.

With it, I’m finally over my 2020 tally (37 figures now vs 36 in all 2020).

After a summer in which I painted mostly scenery and Infinity figures, I was in need of a palate cleanser. The choice was this plastic Tiger of Dirz from the Rackham line of pre-painted plastics that was languishing on my pile of potentials for seven years at least.
I must say that these are quite nice if given a bit of love, and I much prefer this plastic version to the metal one, with all that unnecesary weight coupled with feeble bonding points.
Painting was done mostly with oils, with allowed me to work the skin with wet blending, but proved a hassle for drying times (it took from Friday to Monday to resume painting again)
