I have been disappointed with the size of Rubicon plastic figures but does anyone have any experience of using Rubicon WW2 vehicles with 28mm figures. I am wondering if their forthcoming Vietnam AFV range might be usable or are they likely to be "too small" ?

All of Rubicon's vehicles are scaled to 1/56th. Their upcoming Vietnam range will be the same - though they have said that their infantry for that period may be a little thicker (whilst, at least from the pictures shown off, still sharing the general look of their WWII models).
If you're looking for 1/48th - 1/50th then that's what most other manufacturers are doing to be honest. Rubicon's just bucking the trend as that's their preferred scale, and started out doing WWII models for wargaming; where 1/56th is more the standard.
I use 1/56th scale vehicles exclusively - having sold off all my 1/50th models years ago. They pare much better with more realistically proportioned figures like the WWII stuff out of Rubicon, Offensive Miniatures, Perry Miniatures, Wargames Factory, Eureka, Reiver Castings, etc. :)

Plastic Cold War vehicles seems ideal to me.
I would have preferred 1/48th, but as long as I can clip it and glue it and paint it, I'll be happy I think.

Useful guys thanks.

Depends on your 28mm figures (and your basing).
Crooked Dice William Killian and a Rubicon Kettenkraftrad.

Useful stuff.
Looks like if one is going to use there Rubicion AFV's then they will at least need to be based like the figures.

I use Rubicon, Perry and Blitzkrieg vehicles, and there’s no greatly appreciable size difference. They’re all 1/56 scale and work perfectly with Perry WW2 figures.

I imagine if you’re using chunky metal 28s though, or the bigger and more caricatured Warlord plastics, then the figures might look a bit outsized compared to the vehicles.
Many, many pictures of the figures and vehicles in my LAF WW2 Western Desert gallery:

I have built numerous Rubicon kits, and I think they work just fine with pretty much all current 28mm ranges (my WW2 collection is predominantly old Black Tree, old BAM, and Perry minis), provided the figures are flat-based. For figures based on slottabases or similar MDF thickness, 1/50 or 1/48 might look better.

All really helpful guys. I am just not a fan of resin AFV's and prefer making a plastic kit.
I will devise some kind of basing system for the Rubicon AFV's and hopefully will be able to use the Empress figures as crew.

I have one of their Shermans and an SdKfz251, and I think they work fine with my 28mm figs (I use figures from a fair few manufacturers) .
If you'd like, I can take some pics with the vehicles and my WW2 GIs and Germans.
I don't yet have any of their post-WW2 stuff. So far, all my post-WW2 vehicles are die-casts.

Gotta remember that the Sd.kfz 251 was the size of a long transit van in the real world. These vehicles aren't huge. :D
