Hello,
I'm also asking on the solo wargaming yahoo group, but was wondering if any of you have a good recommendation for solo movement of the side I'm not playing - doesn't have to be swashbuckling as it would seem that it would work basically the same for many periods (gladiators, samurai, etc) where there was individuals maneuvering to fight / defend with hand to hand weapons. Mechanisms would seem to be different where firearms are primary (old west & beyond). Although there were firearms in many of the swashbuckling settings, the sword seemes to be the weapon of most use/usefulness.
Thanks in advance,
JJ

I found great mechanisms in two hour wargames. The reaction mechanism works great especially for firearms, but even greater solo rules are provided for melee in Red Sand Blue Sky (2HW's game about gladiators), which allow to fight an interesting and reasonable combat solo.
I won't copy the rules here, as I don't want to infringe their IP.

In Gloire, there is a solo scenario where the enemy models are controlled using "Night Watch" rules. They'll walk around slowly, and you have a chance to sneak up on them or ambush them. I thought they were pretty clever, but I'm not an unbiased source.
