Title: Figure suggestion needed - 28mm modern female skirt/business wear
Post by: AKULA on 25 June 2021, 04:15:24 PM
Just thought I’d ask the LAF Hive mind for help  :)

This is what I’m after:

-28mm preferably height compatible with Crooked Dice or similar
-A woman wearing smart clothing...conservatively dressed, so a skirt/jacket or dress (ie no trouser suits)
-standing/walking pose
-preferably unarmed/minimal equipment (although this wouldn’t be a deal breaker)

Think more Laura Roslin than Tricia Helfer ...so not too shapely

Would the old Copplestone news crew do? Can’t quite remember what they look like.

Other than that there’s the Preiser railway figures but they are proportionally accurate and might not fit with gaming figures.

They might be too 1920s/1930s but how about one of the Copplestone Gangsters "Swell Dolls" from North Star.  One or two of the "Corporate Babes" could also work if you're willing to remove the weapons.  Statuesque miniatures also have the raincoat-clad Felicity Poppington figure in their asylum range which is quite nice?

Hmmm... bit too shapely ...hand on hip etc

These are slightly more what I had in mind...frumpy...dowdy ...possibly a bit smarter/modern looking though? Anyone know how tall these two Bad Squiddo’s are?

Hadn’t thought about the gangster dolls, but with a head swops they might do the trick...Copplestone should be ok height wise I think?

The Corporate babes are out...too much flesh on show/too shapely.

Felicity from Statuesque is also a good shout..didn’t really want her in a coat, but might work.....{edit}????just checked and she is out of stock  :(

Cheers both...something to think about  :)

I agree on the corporate babes, they are bit adolescent fantasy in style.  The one I had in mind was in pack 2 (the one in the middle) which is a bit more on message.  There's a pseudo Rosa Kleb in the Copplestone KKBB range but that might be too far the other way.  The Copplestone stuff is a pretty good match sizeways for the Crooked dice stuff from the ones I have from each.

This one might be mostly ok, except for the Bren gun:  lol

That one from pack 2 might be a possible

Kleb...yeah that would give me nightmares, but I could always do a head swop

I’ve already got that one   ;)

Another possibility.....think she might be too small though  :?

Thanks mate...yeah I’d seen that one...another possibility for a head swop, although £20 for 4 figures, 3 of which I won’t use puts me off a little

Thank you everyone...some really good ideas there  8)

Have you been through the Pulp Figures catalogue?  There are a few possibilities there, especially in the Gangster section.  I know they are sporting interwar fashion, but in some cases that could be masked simply with how you paint them.

Lower right - cut away the pistol:

Pulp Alley has a few of their own figures that might do. Particularly Betty Bixler:

The best assortment of civilians in general that I've found so far are the Black Tree Designs' Dr. Who range.  They have a couple of women and men that would work for corporate types.

Another alternative are the 1/50 plastic figures for architectural models. Preiser make them and there are quite a few knock offs copies, usually much cheaper. You can generally find them in artists supply stores, often quite cheap. While they are quite slender, they actually match up pretty well with the taller Empress and Under Fire Cold War ranges. If you want to make them a bit shorter it’s a doddle to cut them at the skirt/dress hem and shave off a millimetre or two. Women in suits with bags are definitely in the mix, I have some myself.

Ok, so it turns out there are loads of possible candidates  lol

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.

Nice work...how tall is she to the top of her head?

I’m not sure about forking out £20 for the politician pack, but if the height is good, then maybe...

 :)

Figures.  I just got back from a painting session at my wargames building.  Shoulda checked LAF while I was there.  I plan on popping over tomorrow for some more painting - I'll measure her up for you...(does that even sound right?)... 8)

She's a bit on the tallish side, 29-30mm to her eyes, and 32-33mm to the top of her hairdo.
