Minis from the various incarnations of WizKids' Clix games are cheap and ubiquitous, and can easily be converted for use with tabletop RPGs or other miniature games with just a simple base swap. This article shows you the straightforward technique with step-by-step photos. Follow the link for full details.

It was a good idea to bring this to light for those lesser knowing. I myself have an enormous pile of clix stuff for just this reason.

Clix are great!
Most of my zombie horde & post apocalyptic mutant horde and either clix, AD&D, or other plastic mini.
Can't beat the price or the fact that they can be put on the gaming table right away.
This makes it great for me because I'm not in this for the endless painting or backbreaking carrying-cases of lead-like miniatures.
I just wanna play the d@mn game!!! :D

A wise concept properly exposed. ;)

Thanks for reading, guys. I realize this technique isn't exactly rocket science, but I think it's still worth putting out there. As someone once told me, "There's always somebody behind you on the learning curve."

Rubbery plastic 28mm are basically fucking crap. There are, IMO, so many better alternatives.

True, but that's why they're so damn cheap. Nice source for a handful of zombies anyhoo.

I had used a method that I had read on one of the site on removing the clixy type figure from the bases. This method will remove the figure without damaging the feet (as clippers just won’t do the job sometimes). Pop the figure you want to remove from the base into your freezer wait an hour or so and snap the base off. The glue used will break before the figure will for the most part. You still need to be careful though. I tried it and it worked like a charm.

Thanks for sharing, bandit. Sounds like a winner of a technique. I'll pass that along to the author.

Would it be possible to replace those paper dials in the bases with plain numerical ones? 1-6 or 1-9? I need something similar for space game missile and fighter indications.
That way nothing is wasted ;)

I prefer to use this 'chisel' type blade I have for my modeling knife and wedge it in the gap. Fast, and efficient with no damage to the clix figure.

Well you cant make such a comment, especially that one, and not state anything else.
What in your "IMO" are better alternatives cheaper than Clix's?

The day you think you finally know everything is the day when something will sneak up and kick you up the arse ;)
Thanks for posting that URL. I'm always nervous of trying to re-base these sort of figures, as I've made plenty of mistakes in the past >:(
This should be a big help!
