We played the fun scenario in the rulebook but with pirates taking the place of the Scots and English and natives defending. Pirates had terrible luck early on with one group fleeing after native warriors burst from the jungle led by their fearsome champion, but then they stormed the military post and came within a couple of moves of rescuing the captives when they ran out of time. A great game, and I like these rules more and more for pirates.
Will try using boats and the Donnybrook at Sea rules next.

Commander Bligh, the British hero put up an incredible fight, finally being cut down by Calico Kate the pirate heroine after taking on all comers. The British light infantry managed to lose two men to misfiring guns (only a 1 in 48 chance of that per shot). The mighty native warrior Chacmool the Destroyer was felled by a pirate without achieving anything. The way characters work in these rules is really neat. They are powerful and fun but never dominate.

The pirates storm the compound and put the gunners to the sword!

Thanks. Looks like you had fun.
I do have a copy of Donnybrook, but have
never gotten around to playing a game.
I really must.
