Title: Red Sonja Figure
Post by: Bulldog on September 17, 2009, 04:27:55 AM
Anyone know if there is a good Red Sonja figure out there?  Hopefully something not too static in it's pose?

There is one from Reaper Miniatures.

http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Dark%20Heaven%20Legends/latest/02608

Its a barely dressed female fighter with long hair a scimitar raised over her head and a small buckler in her left hand.

Looks like the Red Sonja from comics.

This one would be great if you could get rid of the buckler.
I love the scimitar type blade.

I also like the one posted by TheMightyFlip,

Arthadan, that one seems a little too muscular. I always imagined Red Sonya being a little more sleek and cat-like.

But I bet they're cold to certain... sensitive areas of the human anatomy.  ;)

Im a big fan of the Red Sonja comics, I actually like Marvel's third series (fourth if you count Marvel Feature) were she wears a blue tunic and yellow and black striped belt. I often find it laughable that shes out figthing in artic conditions with a big fur cloak, fur boots and then the chainmail bikini.  :?

You like that? She looks like she's at an aerobics class in the 80s. All she needs is a headband and some legwarmers. It's awful, just awful.

Nah. If it was an aerobics class in the 80s, the collar on the shirt would be wider so that one shoulder was exposed. :)

I like it cause it makes sense. It say's to me "Im serious about what I do, if you dont believe me I'll kick your ass" not like the bikini that says "please try and rape me so I can kick your ass"

Oh and that comic was released in 1984...

I hear what you're saying, but for me it doesn't make sense. It just looks too modern. I'm not saying she should be in a chainmail bikini, but to me that outfit doesn't say what you say it says at all. It says "I'm in my comfy 20th Century clothes and I'm going to put the kettle on, watch Loose Women, have a chocolate biscuit and then maybe do some Pilates if I can be bothered".

Cheers White Knight.

Plynkes, shes wearing a tunic and leather pants, hardly any different to what they wear in LotR...

Wait.  I'm confused; are you suggesting that chainmail bikini's are *NOT* historically accurate?   Whoa there buddy, them be fightin words!   >:(        lol

Calm down fella  :o

No, chainmail bikinis are clearly historically accurate, just as barbarians wearing furry underpants are.  lol

All Im saying is if you look at many of the other characters in Conan and Sonja, they wear tunics, often without pants (like the Romans), even Conan does, so why not Sonja?

Anyhow we will see if Sonja changes her dress code or just wears a gold bikini when Queen Sonja is released  :-*

I beg to differ: those are spandex pants. 80's Heavy Metal outfit.

Anyhow, as an image, she HAS to wear the chainmail bikini, though I totally agree that any "garment" like that is utter bull.

And what is this Queen Sonja you talk about??? Have I missed soemthing important? Some sense and meaning in life - finally?

They look like leather to me.

The current run of Red Sonja ends with #49, rather than go to #50 they are releasing a new series called Queen Sonja, some kind of "global reset" wherein she becomes Queen of Hyrkania. Its supposed to be similar to Marvel's King Conan series.

You're right - Doro Pesch in spandex is one thing, Sonja another entirely. If she has to wear anything other than chainmail, then it must obviously be leather....

Took me a few second to calm down from thinking about Doro, but...

The Blood Moon Miniatures female barbarian above was painted by me, and I can tell you not only does it look exactly how I picture Red Sonja from the original comic series but it was easy to paint except for getting to the eye by her sword arm.
