Earlier this month Mr Steve and I spent a very pleasant and sunny day exploring the English Civil War history around and in Devizes, Wiltshire.

A long held ambition to take the time to explore the area, after many visits to the Devizes Wargaming show, 'Attack' over the years, was finally ticked off the list.

If you would like to see how are day went together with a summary of the events that unfolded in the area back in the summer of 1643, then just follow the link to JJ's.

Interesting. Thanks for posting.

An excellent read, thanks. One of the few things I miss about no longer living in the UK is the ability to visit history on the doorstep. ECW was my go-to period for many years, thanks for posting.

Hi Chaps,
Thanks for your comments and glad you enjoyed the read.
SM: I feel your pain, I think that would be the same for me as an ex-pat, with thousands of years of history being in some cases quite literally just 20 minutes from my front door and giving one a great sense of timelessness and connection.
