Title: Oldhammer chaos army
Post by: M.P. on 29 October 2021, 04:35:16 PM: In this topic I'd like to present my Khorne army for Dragon Rampant in 1/72 scale. I'm slowly converting free stls from thingiverse and then converting prints to add some diversity.

I love the heroquest/battlemasters style of these sculpts.

As the red your using on your chaos Warriors is slightly transparent. There's a really simple old school look/method that'll make them pop..If you paint all the armour black then add a blotch pattern of gold over it .( just let the gold do what it normally does and separate out slightly with a first coat. )The apply a slightly thinned coat of your red over the top of the whole thing You get a lovely multi tonal chaos Red armour.

I think I've still got an old Space Crusade dreadnought done with this technique. If it's of interest I could take a picture of it.

I'm very interested how it turned out :). I've already painted the armor in my first unit of warriors, but I'm eager to try your way in the next one :).

Here's a couple of pictures .Not particularly great as its a gloss finish In poor light but it's possible to see some of the tones in pictures. (You can get a nice subtle mottling just not in pics it seems ::))
The Dark elf is to show how it doesn't really work with just chain mail / Silver metallics.
