Bet you were expecting something else!
Anyway, fresh from the assembly line: a dozen Perry Hospitallers, the subjects of my 'learn how to paint black" attempt.

Very effective, Hammers, especially the leader and trumpeter.
So all of these were done with that paint set you bought? How did you find it overall (or have you already answered that question elsewhere)?

The short version is that the instructions are rubbish but the paints are top notch. I used them in my own proven fashion.

Those figures look great. I especially like the snowy bases....very simple, but very effective. I have a pile of Templars...want to paint them up for me too (LOL). Thanks for sharing.

I say - those are lovely :-*
Nice work Hammers.
Got any more pics?
Think your dappling turned out rather well.

indeed... how did you end up doing the dots?
great painting! :) even more because you have given lots colour to a very dark colour scheme... which is very difficult in my opinion

I thought I do some side pics of them to.
@hitman: It is not snow, it is supposed to be gravelly sand. Looking at them with your eyes I see that the drawback when you base with coarse medium, I suppose, is that the grains are to even. Also, I beefed up the reflectors for my light tent with 30W low energy daylight bulbs and I have not quite adjusted the settings to compensate. The new glare took out some of the yellows and greys.

Certainly looks like snow and after your comment, I can see what you mean. I like the texture of your basing medium but with the colours washed out, it looks very different to what it really is. The figures are beautiful. o_o

Beautiful knights Peder. I love that black mantle they wore.
Where did you get the tuffs of grass from? They look very effective on the base.
Well done again.

Lovely work Hmaaers!
I assume the lesson has been learned ;)
I agree about the dappling on the dark grey horse - it looks very effective. The shading on the banner is nicely done too.

Thanks Helen. They are not Siflor but that other German brand, name escapes me... I threw the carton in the fireplace... there it is, Noch. Bought it from Antenociti as a Johnny-come-lately to this tuft craze everyone was swooning about some time back. This particularly good because even though it is not self-adhesive it comes in several colours to a try. I applied them with super glue. Very handy and not as messy as static grass.

Nice group of riders, Hammers. Did you finish some of the horses the oiled way?

Great unit of minis - well done.
The horses are particularly nice

Great work Hammers. I like your subtle highlighting on the black colors.

Here's a crossref to a thread I started on painting horses with oils. There are some more detail pics in there.
