Hey all,
Thinking of projects for 2022... And a smaller scale medieval army sounds fun. I haven't picked a period, region, kingdom, or any of those details yet.
I wasn't sure where to post this, but are there any resources for 10mm mini makers? Is 10mm a well-represented scale? What about 3d printing stls? Thanks for any advice!

Hi, Old Glory have a range of late 14/early 15th century in their "Grand Scale". Pendraken sell 10mm late 13th century European, 15th century/Wars of the Roses in their own range plus Teutonic Knights, Islamic , Eastern European and some more 13th century stuff by the Italian company TB. Kallistra produce 100 Years War, Wars of the Roses, Teutonic Knights, Mongols, Eastern Europeans and Ottomans albeit they are in 12mm.
-
10mm is a great scale! Have a look on my website for some (older) photos for inspiration - mainly fantasy and WWII - but hopefully it will give you some ideas http://www.kerynne.com/games/
Manufacture wise, have a look at Pendraken and Magister Militum for two of the bigger producers in metal. There are a number of small manufacturers too.
I’m not really up on 10mm STL files - but there certainly seem to be plenty out there - particularly in the fantasy realm, but several of these would likely work as historical forces too.
-
Kallistra are good:

-
They are listed as 12 mm.
Ah..... always thought they were 10mil.....
-
I can't remember where now, but search around on the web and you will find 10mm size comparison photos. There are several mfgs with medieval figs that mix well with each other depending upon what era you are thinking.
-
There are also some 10mm in the Irregular Miniatures ranges, though they're expensive. Copplestone has a small number of fantasy figures that cross over too.
-
The Kallistra figures are definitely 12mm - and they are considerably bigger than Pendraken, MM, Irregular etc. who are 10mm sized.
I find that most of the 10mm infantry are pretty comparable. But when it comes to cavalry, there seems to be much wider sizing of horses between manufacturers.
If you are thinking late Medieval then Warmonger miniatures are certainly worth a look - but as they are US based postage can be rather high if you are the other side of the Atlantic.

I've some good-sized 10mm Crusades armies. The bulk of my troops come from Magister Militum and Pendraken.
For Pendraken you can source from their Mid-European, Late European, TB Line Medieval and Dark Ages ranges pretty well. MM also have a stack of medieval options. I have used Irregular Miniatures too for a bit of variety. The infantry all fit together pretty well, the cavalry can be a bit more variable. The Pendraken and Irregular cavalry are a little smaller than the MM ones, though their TB line are a little bigger. Fine on separate bases but may look a little off on the same base.
Here's some examples:

You can see more on my blog posts as well as their Saracen adversaries if you're interested: https://mmcvhistory.home.blog/category/periods-projects/medieval/
It was actually the first proper project I ever did when just starting out in the hobby, so has evolved a bit over the past few years as I've added bits too it and rebased and so forth.

Very nice, hadn't come across those before, must be more recent. Will have to keep in mind when I invariably expand my medieval forces further, assuming the fit with the rest okay.

Looks like Lancashire has a sale on too!

Some really nice options there! I'm in the US, and many of those are UK-based, but I may have to splurge. I've also got a friend with a 3d printer, and he pointed me to a few artists who've released some nice models that would work for 10mm and 15mm

Not-warmaster human stuff that could serve! And another fellow, Forest Dragon, who does not-warmaster minis, some of which are quite nice (link) (https://forestdragon.gumroad.com/) That link is to his store page; I was looking at his "chivalric knights" - I already have his two "Man o War" navies, which are very nice!

If you are in the US then look at Warmonger https://warmonger-miniatures.com/ Some great figures, but trans-Atlantic shipping tends to put me off.
