Just posted a blog article reviewing the Wargames Atlantic goblins while kit bashing them into Ralph Bakshi style Orcs - the 1978 LOTR film made a big impression on me as a kid.
I really like the WA kit - great options and plenty of heads to add to kit bash other plastics that are already out there. I had some fun trying some robed Orcs as well using the Gripping Beast Arabs as a base.
The paint jobs are quick as I'm trying for massed effect - there's a more detailed description on the blog. Full blog article is here: https://mogsymakes.net/2021/12/17/do-i-need-any-more-orcs/ (https://mogsymakes.net/2021/12/17/do-i-need-any-more-orcs/)

Perhaps…perhaps not but we sure need to see more of your orcs!
Great work!

They are brilliant, they actually look evil, and the painting is wonderful. :-*
-
Silly question, there are never enough orcs.
-
The simple answer, James, is no! You should be working on your rules so the rest of us can play them >:(

Stunning! I love those Ralph Bakshi orcs. The film, when I discovered it on TV, made a great impression on me, too. And while it has many, many flaws, it did some things pretty good. The scary otherness of the orcs is brilliant — even today. And your orcs capture this pretty well. Congratulations!

I really like those builds. great work.

Great looking orcs - and a really useful write up on the blog about all the different approaches you have used.

Great work mate. I got a box of those WA Goblins and was going to do a blog post review about them but I can not think of anything to add that you have not already written. Great post, great brushwork, great kitbashing. I love your vision and agree with the points you made.

You Can never have to many Orcs or Goblins
-
Of course you need more Orcs!
Very effective painting on those - the Bakshi effect and fang technique work really well.
The Wargames Atlantic goblins are really good for Middle Earth purposes, I reckon. They've got the "squat and broad" stature, the long arms and the big heads - the one area in which they clearly trump the Oathmark goblins for proper Orcishness.

Really nice Orcs - I have to get one of these W A Boxes!!!

Superb conversions with such an interesting angle being inspired by the animated film. As I recall there was a range of figures from the film produced by FASA? Availability was rather sporadic. My brother still has some of the Nazgul. I don’t remember seeing any orcs. It would be interesting to see figures from this range again if anyone still has any in their collections?

These are them (http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Lord_of_the_Rings_Figure_Sets), I think - by Heritage, with box artwork that ties in with the Bakshi film.

Excellent idea and results using Arab bodies for Orc conversions!

Thanks for posting that link. Good to see those figures again :)

Very nice seeing comparisons and kitbashing options. I can see myself trying some of those types of things in the future.
